Carobel and breastfeeding... advice please!

Hi, we've just got some carobel in another desperate attempt to help our little one with his reflux... I'm currently EBF and just wondered if anyone has used carobel while breastfeeding and what their advice is for how much to mix per feed, how best to give it (e.g. little in a bottle first then feed on the boob? Make into a paste and give on a spoon? Does a medicine syringe work?!)

Thanks in advance from a tired Mama covered in baby sick! 🙈

I mixed a little with expressed breastmilk in a medicine cup, then gave it with a syringe. The middle of the feed worked best for us – I'd mix it up, let DD start feeding whilst it thickened so she didn't get frantic, give it, then put her back on the breast. If your baby is a wee bit older, you can use cooled boiled water instead of breastmilk. The quantity is a bit 'what works for your baby', but https://www.nhslanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk/patient-information-leaflets/nutrition-dietetics/pil-carobe-21-02920-l/ has good instructions I used as a starting point. I'll admit DD didn't tolerate it well (she ended up needing omeprazole), but carobel works a treat for many.

I know someone else who mixed it with expressed breastmilk in larger quantities to give in a bottle, more like you would for a formula-fed infant, and that worked for them until they outgrew the reflux.
