I need a book!

My DD is 7 weeks today and 1 thing I've noticed is while you're pregnant there are millions of books and websites charting the progress of your bump but once it arrives, it's more difficult to get basic advice. I know each baby is different but can anyone recommend a good book for the 1st year, which will help me with establishing routines, learning what's "normal" etc. (Although I do find this website invaluable!)

I'd stick to Mumsnet, to be quite honest.

Your baby's never read the book and doesn't know what she's "meant" to be doing.

Trust your insticts, and ask Mumsnet the rest

I found Baby Love quite helpful / quite "kind to you as the reader mother", which was nice.

for minor ailments etc, I have this great ormond street one

I just found the books made me feel an even worse mother than I already felt, lapin. I wish I had found MN when dd was a baby - it would have given me much more confidence that my own gut instinct was more reliable than any book.

Each to his own and all that, though.
