Nappies with good absorbency? Wetting through

Hi, my DS is 8 months and lately has been wetting through the nappies not through gaps, but wetting straight through them. He is changed frequently, but he is always done big wees, but now they don't seem to hold in the nappy even after an hour for example or less.

We have been using Sainsbury's and pampers, both seem to not hold his wee.

Pampers night pull-ups hold well overnight. Does anyone have a brand of nappies that are good for absorbency or perhaps i should try the night
Nappies during the day also.

I've always taken it as a sign to go up in nappy size, my boys were always thirsty and used to guzzle, from memory I used to err on the side of bigger ones always! I always rated pampas as the highest absorbency and least likely to leak generally, even though others were cheaper and it annoyed me to pay more!

Have you tried going up a size? Have you tried "+" ones? They're extra absorbent! My son went through a phase of wetting right through at a similar age. We went up a nappy size, switched to plus and probably gave him a little less milk before bed. We switch between all different brands, Tesco, Asda and Lidl mainly. I think Tesco fair the best.

The size fits well on him hes size 4, do you think a 4+ would be better? Looking at pampers the 4+ seems to be for a larger weight?

What size did your babies have at 8 months, if you remember!

  • is definitely for higher absorption. If I were you I'd trial a + and/or going up a size. Really can't remember what size my son was in then but I'd say likely a 4+, I recall the wet through phase well though because the sleeping bag/whole baby gro change every morning did my head in!!

This is my expert mastermind subject.

go up a size AND make sure you have them in a vest that pulls the nappy against their Willy so the wee goes into the nappy and doesn’t run off somewhere else.

you’re welcome

I wonder if you could add a reusable/disposable liner on the inside to soak up more?

Lidl nappy's/pull ups were really good for my little boy

Yep, nothing absorbs as well as cloth! :)

Aldi have always been the best ime

Go up a size. My titchy 6 month old is in size 4, size 3 looked better on him but he was wetting them through. We're mostly on Morrisons ones here.

HippeePrincess · 09/10/2023 07:25

My chunk of an 8 month is a heavy wetter and in a 4+, we have asdas at the moment and they’re not great but Aldi’s usually do the trick. Pampers baby dry are even more absorbent but so pricey but might have to start getting them just for nighttime.
He’s a heavy wetter and we do have the odd leak in the early hours but both of my boys have done that.
Wouldn’t bother with cloth, I did reusable a with my first and nothing contained his pee, it was worse.
