Tommee tippee perfect prep

hi all I just need a little advice- I got given a Tommee tippee perfect prep machine I set it up filled with cold water from tap under the assumption that tap water is appropriate as the instructions were vague and there is that filter in place and made a bottle for my LO (8weeks) My partner told me I should have used cold boiled water and I contacted other friends who recommended this machine and they all used cool boiled water with theirs. I’m freaking out. Should I be worried?

Honestly, they're not great because the water doesn't get hot enough to kill any germs lurking in the milk powder. And some of them have been found to have horrific mould in the pipes when taken apart. I used to add a bit of freshly boiled water from the kettle to my powder then top it up with cooled boiled water to make the right amount.

They’re dangerous as they don’t kill the bacteria. Do it the recommended way.

I use tap water, but also used a thermometer to check the water temp and mine is above 70 degrees. you need to change the filter frequently and run the cleaning setting as well. never had any issues.

Lifesaver. Had one upstairs and downstairs. Changed filter whenever the light went on and opened up the back to check for mould; there was none. You don’t have to boil the water. Tap is fine.

I used one for a while before we had to switch to hydrolysed formula prepped at room temp, but I always used cool boiled water in the tommy tippee perfect prep as pre 6 months it's recommended not to give infants tap water. I just prepped two bottles of it every morning and one before bed and could top up when needed, just don't put hot water in or it won't work til it's cooled down. I found the hot shot a miniscule amount of water to sterilise formula, so did sometimes worry it wasn't enough, also mine was given by a friend and was an older model and made the loudest beep ever which was infuriating!

Regarding mould worries, I opened the back of mine every week to check the tubes and I ran milton through it on a cleaning cycle plus rinsed afterwards.

Get a formula kettle. Boils to 100 degrees and then you set it to recommended temp, which is 70 degrees. It stays at that temp for 24 hours. I would also have a jug of water in the fridge at all times so I could then stand the bottle in that for a couple of mins to cool to drinking temp.
I prefer this as didn't like the stories I'd read about perfect prep
