just give then a ring NP, tell them you are interested, they come to see you and have a chat, then you have to do the training course. here it is a 10 week course and was from 1 til 3pm. some areas do evening ones.

my 2 are both at school and i only work Fridays so it is easy to fit in. you are right to wait until your dd is older as the one thing that was stressed to me was that you must ahve the time to put in the committment as you have to be almost 100% reliable. in some cases you may be the only person the mum sees during the week and if you can't go they can be more than disappointed iykwim
but still give them a ring. ours actually advertise in the local paper as they always need volunteers.

thanks AQ

when i go back to work i will have more time (sounds silly but its complicated) so i might do it then! i have always wanted to give something back ifswim, but never found anything.

if i could give my time in the evenings, would that be useful or is it mostly weekdays? i will have time during the week when i go back to work and dd is older
