Hello.Had my second baby 3 months and and I also have a 3 year old at full time nursery. There is no financial pressure for me to go back to work but I'm considering working part time at the local supermarket mostly nights (part time).I always workered and my salary was pretty high before having children.I think I need to do it just gain some normality and be able to treat myself form time to time.Has anyone done it?

I'm expecting my second baby in April and will go back to work full time.

Sounds like you have a good plan to me.

I totally get why you feel that way (I would go nuts if I didn’t work) but if there’s no financial pressure, is nights in a supermarket what you’d want to do?

especially if you’ve come from a high salary role.

Nights in a supermarket sounds awful unless you need the money.

I haven't got a problem with working for less money. It's only for 2 years until my daughter gets her 30h. There might be an offer of promotion.Who knows!

No wrong answer here, only what works for you. But if you were a high earner before would you not be better off keeping that up and taking the hit on childcare?

If you don't want to, then obviously that's all well and good!

I was a nanny previously and after my first child I had to take a massive financial hit.I won't be able to go back to nannying with two kids and the money is not that great since covid /CLC.Lastly there no room for promotion/continuous development and you are lonely for large majority of the day.My last resort would be working at the nursery but the pay is so low I can earn more stacking shelves. In my native Poland I would be at home for the next 2 years paid full salary.I have no idea how England got it so wrong this whole childcare conundrum
