How to make mum friends

I have two DC, 4 and 7 months and while I have a lovely group of friends none live locally to me. I really would like some mum friends to meet up with while on maternity leave. I'd hoped when DS went to school this year I'd naturally form some friendships but this hasn't happened. I smile at everyone and say hi and will chat sometimes but things never progress and it's getting me down. I've gone to a few groups with baby but again chat is friendly but nothing progresses. I feel like I'm letting both children down as I'd love them to be able to play with peers outside of groups and school. Any suggestions on how to make friends?

These things do take time and I think you have to be proactive as well.

I didn't make any school gate friends for a few years after my eldest started school, now my middle child has started school it feels like starting all over again.

If you've got people you chat to at baby group you might just have to make the first move in progressing the friendship. Suggest going for coffee after the group ends of something?

Peanut 😊 Two of my best friends are from there!

The Apps are good for chatting to local Mums and arranging coffee dates - Peanut as PP said, and I have used Mush before. A Mum friend of mine chats to other parents at the play park and hands out her number but that sounds a bit extrovert for me 🤣🤣
