My DD is 2.5 and we have had several failed attempts at potty training, its not her its me. If i sit her on her potty and she needs to go, she will go, did this this morning. So put her in pants. I asked her later if she wanted the potty, she said yes - i went to get it but by the time i got down she had wet and messed in her panties and was upset. Now insisting on having nappy. This is how it goes, she is keen on trying but then when it goes wrong, wants a nappy. Im not sure how to start with this to be honest.

I would try naked bottom for a day or two then with pants?? They seem better at remembering they're not wearing a nappy when naked. Also encourage them to go without you asking them if they need it?

Where is the potty? I used to leave it in the living room where my DS was playing and he used to go over and sit on it whenever he felt like it (whether he needed to go or not). The first couple of weeks were really hard, loads of accidents, etc. but he soon cottoned on! Your DD will too.

I sounded like an old nag when I was training my DS - constantly asking if he needed to wee and when he did use the potty/toilet, I used to do a little song and dance to praise him. Stickers used to help as well.

Later on, I bought one of those seats that sit under the normal toilet seat and he felt more like a 'grown up' using that and he never went back to the potty.

Good luck!

It's not you. It's not her. It's just the way it is. My dd1 is the same age. She uses potty (or toilet if I'm with her) for wees no problem. She even goes if I'm not there (usually knocking potty over on the way back up!).
She insists on pooing on the floor though. SHe knows she needs to go because she takes her pants off first and finds a clean spot on the carpet . We are now having to have laminate fitted as the carpet is shot. SHe literally waits until I have left the room.
If your dd is asking to have a nappy back on. I would let her tbh. There's no point in upsetting her it ends up taking twice as long. What I did with dd1 is tell her she can wear pull up nappy but to still tell me when she wanted to go to potty. Once she had got the hang of that (no issue with accidents so much then) I asked her if she wanted to try big girl pants. I waited till she said yes and went from there. Make sure she is wearing a skirt with no tights for ease. Let her come with you to empty the potty when she's used it (fascintating for some reason). Make her part of it. Ask her to put it in the room in a place she is happy to use it and leave it there.

agree, leave her naked from the waist and just persevere. everytime she wees on the potty make a fuss, give her sweets and accept that it will take a few days. i had ds trained in a week, and on day 6 he was still having accidents, by day 7 he was fine!
