DD is attached to a beanie baby - should I buy a spare just in case?

absolutely yes. It also means you can alternate and get the thing washed.

RTKangaDYSONMummy · 06/03/2008 11:44

Yes and swap them over regualary and maybe even get a 3rd one to put into the circuit

jellies · 06/03/2008 11:45

Alternate them early on and keep the other one out of sight so she doesn't know there are 2 or she'll just carry round both.. My son now almost 4 is on bear no 6 (still thinks it bear no 1) and they've stopped making it! ARRAGH!!!!

Definitely DD1 is totally attached to a bunny that MIL bought and we cannot find any others anywhere, if it went missing I don't know what we would do.

S1ur · 06/03/2008 11:47

Yes. agree re the washing and swapping regularly. You won't regret it

CarGirl · 06/03/2008 11:48

6!!!!!!!!!!

We had 4 rabbits I sold 2 as we've still got the original one (she is nearly 6) but I got lax with my rotation and only one "works" however she wants me to keep the other one because she loves him too!

My youngest has got a mothercare dog (no longer sold!) we have 2 and I've been much more careful about rotating. She's getting a bit upset that the label is wearing out though!

My middle one has Ty rabbits and they are skanky as they are not machine washable - urgh, I do wash them but they are not fluffy anymore!

MrsTittleMouse · 06/03/2008 11:49

Oh hell. I am dreading this. DD has just developed an attachment to a couple of "special" toys and none of them are replacable.

themoon66 · 06/03/2008 11:50

Luckily DS was very attached to a bib with a plastic backing. Came in packs of 12.

CarGirl · 06/03/2008 11:50

quick out to mothercare and buy something else and enforce new attachment whilst you can!

Grouchyoscar · 06/03/2008 11:52

DS has his 'Teddy' and he adores him. As he was a gift we only have one and it would be the end of the world if he got lost.

Ds is 4.5, Still sleeps with him and had to get him when he fell downstairs yesterday

I'd say get 2, just to be on the safe side and for your sanity

needahand · 06/03/2008 11:54

very very important. We have four comforter. three are rotating regularly. I was especially I had some spare the day my DD threw hers in a river. After a rescue mission worth any good action movie, we managed to rescue doudou (that's the comforter's name) who luckily ended up being trapped by a branch in the middle of the river and stopped on its tracks.

Always take two comforters if you go on holidays, long weekend etc

Ineedacleaner · 06/03/2008 11:55

With dd we had 4 and yes rotate them regularly so they all get as ragged as each other she is 4 now and she has 2 of the 4 together now at bedtime but not so concerned as she doesn't take them out anymore and she realised there was spares when she lost on last summer and knew she had lost it.

DS is easier he has a teddy blanket thing but he really isn't that attatched to it just attatched to carrying something around so he has one and if it needs washed or dissapears for a while he just uses another fave toy of the moment or a little pram blanket.

And I think that is so important I said it twice

RTKangaDYSONMummy · 06/03/2008 11:55

Preferably try not to take out of the house for day trips though

MrsDandOllie · 06/03/2008 11:56

Definitely get a spare, get 2 if you can in case they stop selling them!!
wash and rotate regularly... and I second not letting them see that you have a spare. I slipped up and let DS see the 'spare' Ellie we have and now he asks for 'Ellie and the other Ellie' when he goes to bed lol
I had to get a third one so I could keep up with washing them!!!

Grouchyoscar · 06/03/2008 11:58

and invest in some clippasafe toy ties so you can connect toy to bags/coats/buggies. They are invaluable

TheBlonde · 06/03/2008 15:37

Thanks, I will go ahead and buy a spare

Either get a spare, or find similar or other options that DC can get attached ot. My neice lost her doll and was devastated. After about 3 monhts my mum saw one similar, but definately different and sent it to her - telling her she had taken the doll out and got a haircut and new clothes. DN was delighted.

As a result, I carefully make my kids form attachments ot at least 3 snuggly toys so that if one goes missing, it is not such a big deal...

Oliveoil · 06/03/2008 15:48

we only have one, therefore they do not leave the house
