Party bag ideas that don't cost the world

Does anyone have any good ideas for party bag favours that don't cost loads but that the kids will love? DD is turning 4y soon and there will be about 20 kids at her party. Thank you!

What is the budget? Sweet cones are cheap, especially if you do them yourself.

Itsrainingshessnoring · 02/10/2023 16:46

Another one for sweet cones.

If not liking the idea of sweets, go somewhere like home bargains of poundland and get big packs of coloring pencils, stamps, little books, bouncy balls and split between the bags.

Luckydog7 · 02/10/2023 16:48

Lots of places sell multipacks of mini play dough which you can break up individually. I got 16 for £9 recently.

Fun pencils.

Do you have a flying tiger shop near you? They are ideal for this, if not they have an online shop.

Big collection of books (try the works) one for each kid

confusedlots · 02/10/2023 16:49

Tesco do a good range of stuff for party bags. Packs of little notebooks, rulers, pencils, small activity books, bracelets, bouncy balls, bubbles etc which you can divide out into bags. They're reasonably priced and think they're also on buy 4 get 1 free. I also bought a lot of children's tattoos on Amazon and threw a few of those in too.

Luckydog7 · 02/10/2023 16:50

Stickers are popular and usually affordable. Our poundland does two packs for a pound. Cut them into smaller sections.

CapEBarra · 02/10/2023 16:50

Just buy everyone a big bag of Tangfastics. That’s what they really want.

Mamabear04 · 02/10/2023 16:52

What's the average price to spend on a party bag? And if buying lots of little things how many/and what what you put in each bag?

Thanks for all the ideas?

We picked up some big bubble wands for 50p each, that along with a slice of birthday cake went down really well!

ToddlerMama27 · 02/10/2023 18:39

I put a mini book (from one of those book advent calendars), a balloon, a mini bubble wand thing, party rings, mini haribo’s and a little chocolate bar in my 2 year olds :)

Moonshine160 · 02/10/2023 19:45

I was also going to say don’t do party bags with loads of rubbish in, just get each child a book along with a mini pack of Haribo or something. The Works do 10 books for £10.

Danikm151 · 02/10/2023 19:49

Poundland do a set with a colouring book, crayons, stickers and an activity book for £1. a few different themes. My 3 year old loved it.
That’s £24 total- £30 if you do bags and add a few sweets in.

or you can get little bits in sets of six bubbles, party blowers, slinkies. For £1 at card factory. Maoams a few packs and a few sweets each.

SoSad44 · 02/10/2023 19:52

Less is more indeed. A sweetcone or a small book/gift plus some sweets is enough. Parents don’t need 5 more items if plastic tat.

PikachuEars · 02/10/2023 19:54

A £1 book from the works and a chocolate lollipop.

wafflingworrier · 02/10/2023 19:56

Yes please please do not buy a load of tat it just goes in the bin and pollutes the planet.
I tend to do one nice toy and a couple of maoam
Eg one nice shiny ball from b and m / one book /one plant or seeds, approx budget £1.50 per bag.

Another option is to make creating the party bag favour part of the activities during the party eg decorating a biscuit/tshirt/plant pot then u take it home.

BugsyDrakeTableScape · 02/10/2023 20:02

The kids don't want books instead of a party bag. Parents want books instead of a party bag. They also don't want seeds. A few sweets, bit of cake, small toy/tattoo/hairslides and you're done

wafflingworrier · 02/10/2023 20:03

Hahahhahaahaa😃

GreyDuck · 02/10/2023 20:08

I did books from the works, stickers, a pencil a superhero mask and some sweets. Came to less than £2 a bag.
The kids were thrilled with the sweets. A couple of parents appreciated the books.

I recently had a bag full of the cheapy party-bag toys from the supermarket. My kid LOVED them for about an hour, then it's just more clutter that no-one wants.

I wouldn't spend loads, you are presumably paying for a venue and a meal for all the kids at the party.

7Worfs · 02/10/2023 20:12

I didn’t give party bags at my 4yo’s party - sent them home with just cake.

The more parents start following my lead, the better.
Honestly - we don’t need a present for attending a great party, and we certainly don’t need even more sweets.

Medlady · 02/10/2023 20:15

If it will be dark when it finishes, get them a big glow stick each

TheWayTheLightFalls · 02/10/2023 20:25

Lucky dip? Wrap up various cheap small things, each child sticks their hand in the bag and chooses one on their way out. I reckon you could get to under £1/head and throw in a little pack of Haribo too.

Anon9898 · 02/10/2023 20:51

We brought some seeds, some pots and some soil. Kids loved them x

Yes someone else did this at a party we went to, book and a slice of cake all the kids were happy!

TotalOverhaul · 03/10/2023 09:53

Kids love those stretchy sticky dolls that look like they are made of gummy sweets. You can get 20 for £8 on Amazon or 30 for £5 on a site I've never heard of.

A bouncy ball is good.

48 chalk sticks for £1 from the Works if you can be bothered to divide them up and wrap them in little bundles.

Add a sweet and a slice of birthday cake and a balloon. Perfect party take away for about £1-2 per child.
