Hi were having some issues my 8y (verbal) in morning first thing he switches tv on or the Nintendo if the remote is lost

on school mornings we have to do countdowns to make him pause it so he can have breakfast. Then getting dressed he needs prompting and clothes are back to front. I don’t like shouting how else can we get through to him. we’re trying to set exercises like sending him upstairs to bring 2 different things but sometimes he can only remember 1.
I also want him to think before acting and not be so impulsive I have to remind him to look both ways before crossing road .
With snacks we tell him one biscuit before dinner but he keeps grabbing more and having a small kitchen means it’s tricky to hide them.

Visual prompts might help? A pictorial timetable for the morning.

Have one biscuit in 'his' container that you prep in advance so he doesn't have access to the tin.

I'd ask him to get one thing from upstairs and when he can reliably do this, then stretch it to two. My lot's limit with that would be three things to remember.

Have a morning routine-
Tv 7-730
Breakfast 730 -745
Dress 745- 815 etc

Have it as a visual and remind him every day

My asd 8 year old can dress now but needs buttons/shirt tucking in. I place clothes on bed in order and right way to put straight on.

If he's not getting it you need to break it down further and assist where necessary

Biscuits don't have in access. Give him one ina bowl. Road crossing continue to teach and hold hands where necessary.

He can't learn at same pace as other 8 year olds so lower your expectations and continue to work with him. It not that he can't do it he just can't do it yet.

Can't you say no screens before school? Would help any child; screens are distracting when you're trying to get ready.
