Sweet station at kids party

I'm organising a party for my son who turns 3 next month. He has asked repeatedly for a sweet station (about 5 jars of sweets, tongs and lots of paper bags) which I'm open to having on display at the party venue so his friends (or their parent/s) can choose a bag of sweets, but I'm just trying to get a feel of how this would be received by mums of 3 year olds? Would you allow your DC to go home with a bag or would you skip it altogether because of the sugar? I suppose I don't want to be in a situation where I'm paying extra for something no one will like or have a mum potentially being frustrated by its presence because their DC won't move away from it. Appreciate any feedback!

I wouldnt be overjoyed at seeing this.. i'f be wondering if they will try and have too many, knock the jars over - are they going to be glass! Mine didnt like sweets at 3 (she loved chocolate) and i felt relieved i didnt have to see her eating e numbers, sugar and colourings. Better to let your dc help you make up some small bags in advance for the party bags as someone else suggested. Take the risk and randomness out of the situation

@Stripeypyjamas haha, thanks for the laugh. Very good.

I don't think you need to consult your 2 year old on....anything at all actually come to think if it

Just arrange what you want and they turn up

I'd love this at a grown up party! But not for three year olds.

It's a disaster at weddings in my experience, under 5's don't understand tongs and bags or sharing!

Honestly as a parent I would hate this

PinkRoses1245 · 01/10/2023 22:18

Definitely not. Don’t even know why you’d bother spending money on a 3 year old party.

roarrfeckingroar · 01/10/2023 22:41

Wouldn't be happy about this at all

Coffeaddict · 01/10/2023 22:43

Nope my son has allergies, things like this stress me out

I wouldn't be keen. I would suggest a snack station instead with veggie hummus cups/ sandwiches/ fruit / cheese/ crackers etc and some sweets/desserty bits rather than a full sweet station. I think it would be awkward to manage, you'd have a wide range of responses from parents which could create challenges for the kids on the day and I think it could be a distraction from the actual party. Alternatively you could set out all the party bags on a table and get your child to help you make them up? Plus I'd probably over think it and want to know what is being provided to make sure there's no choking risks for a bunch of 3 year olds running about maybe not closely supervised.

A 3 year old has the ability to ask for all this, I would first contact Mensa

😂😂😂

I know right, there is no way they asked for this specifically.

I have seen them at one child's party though and on top of the food and cake it was too much. They are mainly seen at weddings.

Most party bags I've seen have a small bag of Haribo in them.
