Why on earth does the nursery lie about child’s nappies..?

Not sure if I’m over reacting or under reacting or whether not to react at all.
For months my child of nearly 2 hardly gets her nappy changed at nursery. They do however write down that it has been… and today even TOLD me at handover it had been changed.
She only goes in for half a session and really it’s not that big a deal, she has never been extremely wet/dirty but why lie?!
I know they are lying because I have a different unusual nappy brand in her nursery bag than I do at home/she does out in. Initially just because I was using the last of those nappies but have stuck to this brand in her bag to keep an eye on changes.
OH thinks we should raise an issue but it hasn’t ever caused an issue however I can’t stand being lied to? What else to they lie about?

We had this issue. Except it was 6 hours.
When questioned we was told "we didn't want to waste your nappies"
We no longer used the nursery after that.

I'd definitely bring it up.

If you would have changed her in the time she is with them, they are being unreasonable. It’s basic care, preventing nappy rash and making the child feel comfortable for the journey home.

FTMFML · 28/09/2023 21:49

It’s four hours and I might have changed her dependent on what we were up to/how much she had drank/peed. To be fair… on that thought I probably would have changed her in four hours. But why on earth do they lie? Seems to silly!

Presumably they mean "nappy check and change if required"?

Ratfinkstinkypink · 28/09/2023 21:55

If they are telling you it's been changed and it hasn't been then I would definitely raise it, if you can't trust them to be honest about this then what else are they not being honest about.

Meredusoleil · 28/09/2023 22:02

Are you sure they haven't got some nappies of the same brand as yours and they are using their own instead of any you send in?

Gay2 · 28/09/2023 22:03

Nappies got changed every 2 hours at our nursery, after every meal/snack. Only extra for a poop/leak in the middle.

Gay2 · 28/09/2023 22:05

& always a double check to send them home in a clean one. Much easier for parents to know they have whole clean fresh nappy to enjoy their after nursery activities rather than needing to change them as soon as collected. Mention it to manger and ensure she is sent out in new one. Agreed no reason to lie. See what they have to say about it.

caban · 28/09/2023 22:10

I'd check your dd's nappy on pick up and then say to them it's the same nappy you sent her in.

Maybe when they do the nappy round at 10am or whenever, she has a dry nappy so they don't actually change it? She'd still get ticked off on the nappy sheet but not actually changed.
When I worked in a nursery we'd have noted 'checked - dry' on our records though.

FTMFML · 28/09/2023 22:18

Yea they have the “checked” box and the “changed” box and they have wet/dry etc. But lie on it…?!
I don’t want to seem like a right Karen when I know she doesn’t desperately need it changed but equally I cannot stand lies!

Sorry should have added the brand she has are Italian from a holiday and I’ve never seen them in the UK/on Amazon etc so 99.9% sure it just ain’t being changed.

Oh op, using that term isn't going to go down well !!

VentiPumpkinSpiceLatte · 28/09/2023 22:26

Giving them the benefit of the doubt I would colour a very tiny dot on the nappy with a pen and see if it’s still there when they send her back with you.

You lost my sympathy when you used that misogyny right there.

Belltentdreamer · 29/09/2023 07:04

Is she going in with the Italian brand on too? A lot of nurseries just change into whatever brand is in the changing area if short on time/bags in the wrong place so it could be this.
Otherwise just raise with them - nurseries usually change nappies & wash hands before snack time/ lunch time and should really be changing her before pick up if wet/dirty. Parents want to pick up a well looked after child - not one with a full nappy and snot and lunch smeared on their faces so if this is the case I’d be having a word. As it doesn’t show a great level of care.
