We're going to be moving soon to another part of the country. Has anyone got any tips about how to break the news to their DC's who love their school and friends? We're moving to a fantastic area, so it's something we really want to do. Any advise for settling them in once we're there? I've got DS 6 and DS 3 thanks

We have moved back to Italy after 8 yrs in Devon. Ds is 5.5 and dd 3.5. What made things easier for us is that obviously the children "knew" where they were moving to, and that we were going to move closer to their grandparents and friends children they knew.
I'd organize a weekend in the new area with exciting things to do and would try to involve them in decision - making things.
I won't lie to you, my ds was extremely upset to leave his friends and his school. Today I caught him pretending he was speaking on the phone with his best mate in England

i moved from staffordshire to northamptonshire although my ds was only 1 when we moved. I sorted his bedroom out straight away n let him play in it so he got used to his new 1 (as it was a lot smaller tha his old 1, its a good size but old bedrooms where huge)

Thanks - the news has been broken and has not been taken well... Now feel incredibly guilty, well guitly about something else. All we have to do now is sell this, find somewhere else, organise removals, sort schools......
