Teething

Hi everyone I was wondering whether I could have a bit of advice please if possible.

I have a 21 month old DD who is teething. She has 9 teeth so far and her 10th is cutting through. It’s her molar. She hasn’t had any problem with teeth before but for some reason this tooth is causing her a lot of pain. She has been off her food and milk over the last 2 days but she has been having fluids and ice lollies. I know it’s not nutritious but it seems to cool her gums and relieve her of her pain. I have been using Anbesol every 3 hours and that works. The concern for me is her temperature seems to rocket up and is very warm to touch at night time. She refuses calpol so I had to put it in some juice in order for her to drink it during the day. I read on the NHS website that a ‘fever’ or ‘high temperature’ has nothing to do with teething? I don’t know whether this is true as she currently has diarrhoea and has a high temperature. Is this normal? And has anyone else ever experienced this?

Some advice would be grateful, as stated above she didn’t have issues with her other teeth so this is all new to me.

thank you.

It sounds like she has a virus, keeping fluids up is good. It can coincide with teething which is why people often assume teething is to blame but it's probably just both at the same time. You can give Calpol as well as anbesol if you want to. It should get better in a few days but you can download the lullaby trust baby check app as a sort of symptom checker, it will ask you various questions to rule out anything concerning.

Teething can give them awful nappies, but it does sound like she’s got a bug.
