So my son has just came out of 9-12 months they are tight and he literally can't bend 🙈 so I quickly went shopping for some trousers for him joggers just to wack on as my 1 year old gets very messy......they are huge!!, I went with 12-18 months the next size up and they just fall off him, whereas these legging type trousers fir him lovely with a little room. So the question is would you buy leggings? Even if it's from the girls section like the yellows and oranges just plain block colour, it's the only thing that will fit him right now, i don't want judgement on this because leggings aren't just for girls in my opinion, was this a problem with your little boy?

He's got nothing warm apart from two dungaree sets that I can't wash everyday unfortunately.

My 2 year old son wears leggings, because i wanted a medium between joggers and shorts in the summer. I found leggings in the boys section in m&s and asda x

I put mine in leggings. Was also initially against it but he actually looks really cute especially with a baggy tshirt. Got them in Tesco and they stay up!

Go for it. Whatever works..my DS is quite slim and I struggled with trousers falling off him too. Primark and Zara do jeans with adjustable waist bands inside which are good. I ended up getting a few second hand Zara skinny jeans off eBay for him - generally hate skinny jeans but they cling to the legs so don't fall down..also you can get some trousers with cuffs around the ankles that act in the same way. And then you've got to think about the size difference from different shops, I find m&s sizes very big for example. Good luck!

H&M and Sainsburys have plenty of leggings for babies which are basically unisex including plenty in colours that are often marketed to boys.

NuffSaidSam · 22/09/2023 19:21

Leggings are obviously fine for children of both sexes.

BertieBotts · 22/09/2023 19:25

Yes, really practical especially in these in between months. I find them too cold for winter though.

DearRose · 22/09/2023 19:26

I got my boy some bright block-colour leggings. No one has made any comments about him wearing them - they look fine teamed up with a hoodie/cute jumper.

h&m lined cord trousers are really soft and cozy, we had a couple of pairs of those last winter which were great on cold days and not too baggy, recommend those too!

BertieBotts · 22/09/2023 19:26

They are great for nursery. If you can find the one week when aldi do their rain dungarees (should be any time now) those are brilliant for popping over leggings when you go outside in the winter though.

Perfect28 · 22/09/2023 19:28

Leggings are fine for anyone. Why do you feel so much pressure about it?

confusedlots · 22/09/2023 19:31

Leggings are absolutely fine. Or the trousers with the button/elastic adjustable waists might work too

Alwaysoncall · 22/09/2023 19:37

Yes I always bought DS leggings when younger, very practical and super cute. He always wore a pattered legging with plain black or white tops. I used to go a size up with tops so they were longer. They've all now been passed onto DD. I bought from both the boys and girls section. Next, Zara and Fred and Noah do some very cute ones and lots of designs aimed at boys now. At 6 my DS still has a couple of pairs as he likes a skater style, oversized tshirts with a skinny trouser. I wouldn't recommend M and S though if he has a skinny waist, I recently got some for DD and they're constantly falling down.

@Perfect28 its were I live (north east England) a little village where everyone you walk across judges you regardless you following trend, it worries me because I was judged for just having curly hair as a child this village is full of backstabbing cruel folk.

Of course I would/do. He doesn’t need his gentils organs to wear them and therefore are suitable for girls or boys.

No, you believe everyone is judging you based on your historic experience of feeling judged.

Thank you everyone for your help, I'll get a good look around the shops stated just to get him a few as he's literally only have shorts and pj bottoms, the joggers are just useless 🙈 they don't pull in either which sucks.

My 5yo still wears leggings. Hes only recently been able to wear Joggers to his actual size as previously they've always been too loose if the length was right. He had a 2 - 3 age waist when starting school bur has evened out a bit now

Clicheinaqashqai · 22/09/2023 19:46

Sainsburys do great ribbed leggings that DS lived in with a baggy jumper on top. H&M do trousers with adjustable waist, often nice soft cords which are nice for Autumn

Moancup · 22/09/2023 20:03

DS 14 months lives in leggings. I hadn’t realised that was something that would attract a second glance on a boy. He has some joggers, but I don’t really like them; and chinos, dungarees etc seem overkill for nursery as everything comes home filthy.
