Emotions Running High!

So my daughter was a bit mean/nasty to one of her friends at school this week, she's five years old. Long story short, my daughter got upset from being excluded in a playground game with 'said friend' hence the retalialtion on my daughter's behalf.

Fast forward a few days and the mother is saying her daughter said she 'wanted to kill herself' because of what my daughter had said. But I do know that my daughter only ever responds in this manner if she's extremely upset herself or feels threatened. That said however, I've apologised for my daughter's behaviour and the girls seem to be getting on fine again now. (My daughter has on several accounts wanted to kill herself also but after much research I've come to the conclusion that is a developmental response when emotions are running too high for them to handle).

However, the mother doesn't seem to be fine with me now and has ignored a few of my texts where I've tried to reach out.

Of course I understand she may be feeling protective over her daughter and slightly alarmed (I've been in similar situations also), but the sad thing is I get on rather well with the mother. Used to anyway.

Anyone else been in a similar scenario?😑

I would just step back from the mum and go via the school teacher if your daughter is having difficulties with friends at school. I also don't think it's normal for 5 year olds to be saying they want to kill themselves- I'd definitely be having a word with the class teacher to let them know that more than one child has been saying it so they can talk to the class about it.
