After such a difficult year with my daughter (now 12 months), we finally got the paediatrician appointment today we’ve been waiting 6 months for! Lots of issues: lack of mobility, won’t eat, sleepy, cries all day
In the appointment the consultant said all the issues just came down to her personality and are not medical
He examined her for mobility and said she had central hypotonia - floppiness. Not a problem, just will be a little longer in walking than other babies. Will see us again in 5 months.
I came home and googled the condition and everything online (including NHS pages) actually suggest this is a really serious life-long developmental concern requiring investigation into the cause, as well as treatment and monitoring. Some even suggesting it can be life limiting.
But my baby doesn’t look anything like the pictures of it online, or even sound like the symptoms it mentions. But there is NOTHING online to suggest it’s just a small bump in the road.
Has anyone else had this diagnosis for their babies? Or can shed any light?
