Tommee Tippee prep machine or the Hot/cold Flask

Hi all

Just wanted to ask your opinion

We have purchased the Hot/cool flask from Tommee Tippee to make it easier to prepare feeds on the go. The hot flask holds the boiling water and the cool flask will cool the feed down in 2 minutes

Would you also then buy the perfect prep machine or would you just use the hot/cool flasks for all feeds? Due next month and it's my first baby so no experience using either

Thank you

I use both (but the nuby rapid cool which is essentially the same thing)
I use the prep machine during the day and then the rapid cool for out and about. Now I’m on only 1 night feed I do use the rapid cool at night aswell so I don’t have to go downstairs. Couldn’t be without either!!

Iv got the flask i never ever use it. Heavy bulky annoying to carry 😂 100% perfect prep theb ready made milk when out and about.

If you are going to heavily/fully formula feed then 100% prep machine for at home. The early days feed like continuous formula prep so it’s worth it. I will say though the smallest feed it will make is 4oz so may have a bit of wastage.

out and about I started with the Nuby rapid cool system, but found it bulky and another thing to clean. DS was on anti reflux milk so couldn’t be made ahead so I preferred to take a small flask of boiling water and a bottle of cooled boiled water and basically copied the prep machine. Added a shot of the boiling water into the bottle with formula to sterilise it then topped up with cool water.

Little one is off reflux milk and onto hipp now and to be honest I just use ready made now for out and about.

Tip for the flask - if yours is the same as the nuby you are meant to put the boiling water and formula in together however this means sterilising each time. I use a shot of boiling water into the formula then put the remainder into the flask to cool and then add to the bottle. This means you don’t need to keep sterilising as it’s only boiling water 🙂

Thank you all! I will get the prep machine then for feeds at home and just stick to the flasks for when i'm out! They have just arrived and are definitely bulky lol

Just an update, I tested it out a little while ago and I will be returning the Tommee Tippee Flasks as even with boiling water the digital lid is suggesting the feed is not safe as it's not above 60 degrees which can't be right. Then ontop of that the cooling flask showing ready when the water is far too hot so seems faulty to me

Heard lots of good things about the Nuby Rapid Cool but for now I will probably stick with pre-made formula for when i'm out

Thanks all :-)

@Lindt8 to be honest the Nuby rapid cool is good and does what it says on the tin but when you go out there’s so much to take as it is I just found that the two Nuby flasks, plus pots of formula just bulked it out further.

My son is 11 weeks old and there’s enough to think about as it is going anywhere so the ready done formula has been heaven since he stopped reflux milk.

@Thelazygardener Yes that sounds like a lot to pack and the last thing I want is to carry around a big heavy bag with a baby. I will stick with the ready to drink bottles for when we are out. Thank you so much for your advice. We wont be spending anymore money on these flasks for now 🤣

Agree with other posters, perfect prep machine for home and ready made for out and about :) wishing you all the best!

Be careful with the prep machines, they are great making up a feed so quickly but the hot shot that is produced isn’t enough to kill off the bacteria in the powder, and this is because it’s not enough water, so when it hits the powder it cools down too quickly. A lot of research been done into this, NHS don’t recommend them. Chances are it won’t cause much upset in baby but if you notice colic type symptoms or sickness try making up feeds the traditional way and see if that makes a difference :)
