Birthday gifts for multi kid parties

Parents in my daughters 1st class have started organising birthday parties for multiple kids at once. The last one was for 4 or 5 kids. Would you buy a gift/give cash to each child and if so what spend per child? Seems convenient for the birthday parents but the attendees have 5 presents to buy. Any experience?

We had this last year, I found it a headache. I usually spend £5-10 per gift for birthday party gifts (always something with a higher RRP though) - I found some £5 gifts which were heavily reduced from a higher price so gave one of those to each dc (for a party for 5 dcs). It's hard to spend below £5 really, I keep checking Amazon for toy deals as they have some good reductions sometimes. I've never given vouchers and wasn't given vouchers for my DD's party so I just don't think it's the done thing in our school.

My son really enjoyed getting money in a couple of cards from school friends after his party this year, would definitely recommend chucking a fiver in a card!

I've been to parties like that and the parents asked each child to bring only one present maximum and they'd share the presents out between the children. So they had to be quite generic presents. But at the age where that many children are sharing I think that's quite easy. Ask if that's what they're doing? Otherwise it's gojng to cost a fortune. Maybe a pack of felt tips each?

After having a chat with other parents it seems cash in a card is the way to go. Probably encourages kids to buy one gift and appreciate it more than having 25 toys that they don't need. These multiple child parties are becoming common and I believe that 5euro in a card has become the norm where I live (Dublin). Obviously it would cost a fortune if you put anymore in. So the hosting parents benefit but the contribution is kept equally small.

Hope this might help someone else. Thanks for all the replies.😊
