Allergy parents - introduction of allergen in hospital

My baby is IGE to egg, soy and milk. They said he will have to be in hospital when they introduce these allergens. Does anyone have experience of this? What happens? Do they test him before? If he’s still positive on the test will they still introduce the allergen? Quite scared as when milk touches his skin he comes up in lots of hives instantly.

Also side question - what actually is anaphylaxis?

Hi, I'm afraid I don't know the answers to your questions but would love to see what others say. My DD has ige allergies to milk and peanut.

No doubt someone wise will come along soon 🙂

Hey my little boy has allergies to dairy, sesame and coconut, he has now successfully passed his nut trial. We had to go for yearly tests and he was not offered trials for anything where the measurements of the hives was over a certain amount. He had the sesame trial in hospital because this was under but he failed immediately after the first lot of seeds, displayed symptoms of anaphylaxis, was given antihistamine which lucky he responded to and the trial was stopped.
Fast forward a year he had his next test and he didn’t appear to react to nuts so he did a trial in hospital. It took around four hours with him being given larger amounts of peanut butter every 15 minutes with constant monitoring in between and then two hours of monitoring after the final part of the trial. It feels very safe and controlled. If you have any questions about any of the rest of the process just ask, we’re three and a half years in but got a diagnosis super early so have already had a lot of appointments!
