5 week old slept 7 hours last night

Baby’s previous night sleeps would usually be 4 hours max - then wakes for a feed.

Yesterday evening slept for 7 hours - should I have waken baby earlier to feed? Guidance I’ve heard is to feed every 3/4 hours?

Yes update from me - baby is now 9 weeks, the overnight sleeps had dropped to 5-6 hrs but recently back up to 7 hrs. I’m not waking baby from sleep to feed and baby is gaining weight and plotting well! I’m taking advantage and enjoying the sleep before the sleep regression happens! Seems others are doing the same! Funny how the advice I was given was to wake - I guess it needs to be taken in context of babies weight gain

No such thing as a 4 month sleep regression, it’s pretty much psychosomatic

I don't believe in any of this 'sleep regression' nonsense either. It's all some of my mum friends ever banged on about. Some are just really good sleepers and some are not.

I still remember the shock when I woke up and realised my almost 6 week old had slept through for 8.5 hours. He's just turned 2 and has slept through every night since (bar the off sickness bug). He was born on the smaller side (5lb 11) but gained weight steadily and was perfectly healthy, there is no way I would of been waking him up to feed him.

Yep, normal for some. I had one that slept for 7hrs overnight from 5 weeks, woke for a feed and went back to sleep for another 4 hours. It was heaven. They didn’t really sleep otherwise, more brief catnaps throughout the day rather than longer periods, but we were both getting a good stretch at night and they were healthy so I wasn’t ‘fixing’ what wasn’t broken.

Yes exact same for me - not much sleep in the day but decent at night!

Definitely don't wake as long as baby has no health issues including issues with gaining weight.

Mine was sleeping 12 hours by 8 weeks.

I was going to say “don’t wake” until I saw the long sleep was during the day.

I always fed my kids every 3/4 hours during the day so I would have woken them, but I wouldn’t wake them during the night.

My youngest was doing 7/8 hours at night around 6 weeks, and I didn’t wake her to eat. Last feed was usually around 10.30.

@SouthLondonMum22 wow 12 hrs is amazing!

@Lizzieregina yes it started in the day but has now shifted to around 9pm :)
