Baby swimming lessons - changing tips?!

My DS is 6.5 months and today we a
Had his first swimming lesson, the pool is in a hotel so the facilities are not baby friendly. Open changing area with no changing tables.

I feel like it was quite a tiring and stressful experience (not the lesson but the getting changed)

There was nowhere to lay DS down except the floor on his changing mat and his mat got soaking wet as the floor was full of water from others prior.

Has anyone got any tips on how to make this any easier? Should i bring his car seat in? Would that help as to somewhere to put him?!

I used to take an old towel that I'd put on the floor and another on top. I'd just accept the old towel would get soaked but would put in a carrier bag to bring home

Seek a refund. It's not practical and a shit experience for him to be changed on the floor. There must be an alternative venue?

Ditch the swimming lessons! They are such a faff especially as your baby gets heavier and you have to hold and change and carry back and forth to the lockers. I'm starting again once DS can walk himself to the lockers and showers😁

I used to take my Baby Bjorn bouncer to put DC in after swimming. They fold flat so I put it on top of the lockers while we were in the pool.

I got the best advice ever when we’re already been doing lessons for ages which is get them dressed at home then put an ordinary nappy over the swim nappy and swimsuit whilst travelling there. Means you only have to worry about getting changed after not before.

I hate to be a negative Nancy but by the time I had no 3, I had worked out to save the money/time/he'll on earth that was our local pool and pay for 121 lessons at 7.

Agree it's a faff. I did lessons with DS for half a term at 4 months but once the rolling and moving started it was too stressful. Just picked up again at 15mo and it's much easier now he can stand and sit on a bench. In between we just went as a family at the weekend so had a spare adult to help.
I used an old towel on the floor but also stripped baby's clothes and nappy off on my lap/midair before lying them down on the towel so it's actually drying them as they lie wriggling. Quickly dry upper side with my own towel, put nappy on baby, dry and dress myself then put baby's clothes on, so they didn't just get wet by the towel again.
