How are all the Gina babies doing?

I just want to know how all the Gina routines are going. DD is 8 wks and the routine is going well, the only thing is she has not dropped the night feed, she wakes anywhere between 2 and 4.30. One night I tried to give her water at 2, she woke an hour later I gave her some more water, then she woke at 5 and I gave her a couple of ounces of milk. I find trying to cut out the night feed with water exhausting as you get woken so much in the night when the alternative is to give her some milk and know she would then sleep until 7.

However I don't mind giving her a couple of ounces as it is such a quick feed (1/2 hr including winding time) and then back to bed.

lulu41, wait and see what kind of baby you get. i had a 'difficult'-ish baby first time and GF was a godsend. Baby number 2 is angelic and sleeps really well, I haven't even had to open GF this time round! I personally wouldn't advise starting GF before 4/6 weeks anyway. A lot of her stuff is just common sense, keep baby awake for periods during the day and try and follow a wind down routine at night which most people do anyway. You may find GF too restricting with another child, I know I would - the idea of not going out to lunch with friends/friends children because dd2 needed a sleep in a dark room just seems utterly alien to me this time round.

Try not to stress about it yet - wait and see how things go. good luck!

I found it quite a comfort at first to follow it to the letter. I missed the routines of the hospital and felt I was floundering at home. But as time went on I did tailor it to fit my baby. I didn't express for her as she didn't need me to, and my breasts coped quite well once she started sleeping through. I also found that if I did take her out, she would get her naps in the pram or in my arms, I didn't feel I had to put her in the cot each time. Although I did wait until she was fairly well into the routine before I started taking liberties.

Just take out of the book the things you think would suit you, and disregard the ones you don't. The things I found most useful were the naps, and weaning from breast to bottle.
