Wrapping school books

DC has started school and they've sent home a pile of jotters and asked us to wrap these? What are we supposed to use? I thought wrapping paper maybe but worried this will rip on first use, is there special paper/technique to be used?

My DCs' all had to be done with clear sticky back plastic.

We used old wallpaper when we were kids, but my dc used plastic book sleeves.

If it were me, I would just buy the plastic dust covers. I'm a teacher and my school buys these for the kid's exercise books. They are pretty bombproof, you'd be able to reuse them for a good while.
