Really confused on portion sizes for
my ten month old (or if they’re not required at this stage). Any help would be really appreciated!! I’ve summaried below what we do! I am seeing a hv next week too but any help in meantime would be appreciated.
It may be that I’m getting myself confused over nothing.
Baby is EBF so I have Understood (wrongly or rightly) that you can’t overfeed a bf baby. Does this apply still now weaned?!
Baby has taken to weaning really well - started at six months on the dot
Baby now ten months and super chubby - not crawling yet but tries to stand.
I’ve only fed her healthy stuff. I’m not just saying this she has. I only have one child and on mat leave so I have time. Example day May be:
breakfast: avocado on toast
lunch: prawn, brocoli, sweet potato, strawberry for pudding.
tea: homemade courgette & potato fritters, 1/2 orange for pudding
breastmilk still fed on demand. Should I be trying to cut down to three feeds a day??
other dairy on hold due to dairy intolerance.
I’ve spent so much time looking online for portion sizes and I’m really getting myself confused. :( I want to do what is best for my baby
should I still follow baby led weaning and breastmilk on demand and I’m worrying over nothing?! Or should I be trying to keep an eye on portion sizes? If yes everything I can find seems to suggest a portion is 2 tablespoons, or the size of child’s fist. But I can’t seem to work out if this is for carbs only, or a meal as a whole.
do I need to keep an eye on fruit / veg portions or no because they’re healthy?
