Walking distance at 20 months?

I mean it’s hard to measure. My 20mo son in the house doesn’t ever sit apart from meal times. He’ll squat to play little things but mainly is up around, running, walking just generally moving!

we went to the park today and it must’ve been a can’t be arsed day as he ran for about 10 mins then just wanted picking up. He had a cold last week and was like this when we popped out but didn’t want the buggy o I’m unsure if the ‘up’ gesture is behaviour (he does it a lot in the house , as his snack cupboard is the high one in the kitchen 😂) or actual tiredness

then I panicked what if he can’t walk very far for his age do we use the buggy too much etc

Next week we said we’d see if he’d walk to child minders, 0.4 miles away ? I’ve always just took him in buggy as it’s near roads and this panics me. I can take buggy as a back up

It’s hard too as he can’t follow direction erc so he gets frustrated if we try to redirect him

I would 100% say that this isn’t something to be worrying about. 20 months is a teeny tiny human, a baby, all these things will come in good time. Buggy for the win, especially near big roads and if it’s morning dropoff stress time! And for approximately all children and many adults, the period of time someone is willing to walk is always shorter than the amount time they are able to walk :-)

Mine is nearly 3 and I take the buggy as backup, he rarely uses it but it’s handy for shopping as I don’t want to carry him and my shopping. The child will guide you,

Mine only started walking at 18months. Never walked far. Needed the buggy as back up for day trips until 4.5. Now 5.5 and happily walks all day, we did the best part of 10 miles yesterday. Actual walking, as in a straight line to actually get somewhere, is very boring when you’re little, for a lot longer than 20 months. If he’s up and moving most of the time by choice you absolutely do not need to worry.

My three year old is still in the buggy but never sits still at home and can climb anything. I think it’s normal to not be able to walk far out and about and have no directional control. I do use reins near roads.

My daughter could always walk pretty far compared to her cousins who would moan after 10 minutes 😂

Now I've a 2 year old son, and he walks at a snails pace. And tires easier, even though he never stops at home! They're all different, I don't think you've anything to worry about at all. They have teeny little legs!
