Confused about whether baby is ready to drop to 1 nap

I have a 14 month old baby and I'm confused about her sleep needs at the moment. She has been taking 2 naps per day (variable length from 30 min to 1.5 hr) with wake windows roughly following the 2, 3, 4 pattern. Recently there have been several days when she has taken a longer morning nap (eg 2.5 hr) and then refused her afternoon nap. Does that mean she might be ready to drop to one nap? The thing that makes me confused is her first wake window is still very short and she really seems to want her morning nap. I thought the one nap routine usually has the nap around lunch time, not at 9am. On the days she refused her afternoon nap she was awake for at least 7 hr before bed (usually has bath at 7pm and then bed) which seems like quite a long time and she was getting tired by then. Has anyone had a baby that only wanted a morning nap? Should I try making the morning nap later even though she's grumpy to balance the day a bit better?

I think sometimes you just have to do it and see what happens. And power through for a few days until they adjust.
So yes - I'd try just one nap, and a bit later - 11ish? And you might find that she gets up later and wants a slightly earlier bedtime. There may well be a few days where she still wants 2 naps though.

I find most 1 year old will want a morning nap but a lunchtime nap is much better for routine overall. She’s at the right age to transition to 1 nap. Try and keep her up - she will get grumpy at 9/10am but try and get her to push through it..my ds is 14 months and I usually carry him outside in the fresh air at this time to wake him up. Give her lunch early and get her to stretch to 12 if she can. If she’s really struggling try and give her a 10 minute nap in the morning. Will hopefully mean she’s still tired at lunchtime.

When my boy was transitioning from 2 to 1 it was a slow process. Some days he needed 2, some 1. He's 19 months now and will still have 2 sometimes. When he's at home with me he tends to have 1. On days I'm working he has 2 (he refuses to sleep longer without being breastfed back to sleep). It's not easy and no days are the same!

Yes. My girl dropped to one nap around 14 months.
She fell asleep around 10am and refused to go to nap in the afternoon. I just made sure I kept her up until 12; so she started to sleep from 12-3.
Sometimes it means she misses her lunch- or getting it early.
