Is this normal or advanced speech?

DD will be 2 next month. Her speech has really taken off lately and she can pretty much communicate everything she needs.

She can say some full sentences or mostly 3 or 4 words together. Things like "daddy's gone to the shop" "I'm building a tower" "Go upstairs to draw" "What's happened?" "More chicken please"

I find it so impressive but I don't know if it's just normal? We also have a 5 year old and at that age he could only say very few individual basic words. Maybe he was delayed and I never realised?

Just interested to hear your experiences. I often forget she's not even two as it makes her seem so grown up. I'm crossing my fingers the fact she can communicate will help the terrible twos as she is VERY strong willed!

I think it's in the range of normal, as is being a little less or a little more advanced. I've known children just turning 2 who can recite all the words to a song and others who still used 1 or 2 words strung together.

Mine had a bit of a penchance for remembering very long words, at age 4 it definately hasn't meant he's more advanced than anyone else Wink but at the time I was like 'wow! He says fabric conditioner'

Our tantrums were also limited I do think being able to express wants helps a lot, and understanding if you explain why they can/can't do something etc

It's normal but I don't think it's necessarily true about the tantrums. I thought DS1 would get less frustrated when he could express his needs. But then he learnt to talk and it turned out all his needs were really, really unreasonable.
