Not achieving milestones

Hi All
Need some positive stories.
my daughter is 11 months old.
she is still not crawling or not standing.
she can rollover ( did only at 7 months) . She sit unassisted. She is try to sit from her back but not there yet. We did not give her enough tummy time Intially. I think that is causing all this delays. We are worried if she has any disability. She smiles, laughs, recognize people .
has anyone seen this delayed development?
thanks

There isn't any development delay. At all.

Please try not to worry.

Thank you for your kind words. Just been so anxious. Have not slept for a week. Most of the kids her age is crawling, sitting up.
just worried

Both of my children didn't crawl until 11 months. My DS walked at 14 months and my DD walked at 12 months. They had no developmental delay or any disabilities. All children are different and do things at different times. Please try not to worry.

Hello op. My DD is 13 months and only started crawling a week before her 1st birthday.
She is only just pulling to stand but is showing no interest in walking - I know lots of other have had this and their baby is fine.
You will have a check soon with the HV, raise these concerns with them, but in the mean time, try not to worry too much as they all do things at such different times.

Thank you. Happy to hear some positive stories.
thank you. She like to stand assisted . Hopefully she will do things soon

Thank you. My Baby did rollover late. so I presume everything will be a bit late. Deep inside i know everything will be ok. But can not stop from worrying.

My eldest did very little tummy time - at had some breathing difficulties so the position was just too uncomfortable for her. She couldn't crawl/sit up/pull up as a result, and wasn't able to roll till 9 months.

She's totally normal. If a child doesn't get the opportunity to practise certain skills they can't master them. But that doesn't mean they have a developmental delay or will be unable to master other skills appropriately.

DD is a totally normal 6 year old.She did things in a strange order as a result of the no tummy time, but was indistinguishable from other 2 year olds.

As long as a baby is makingorogress in each area (gross motor, fine motor, communication etc) then the exact timing of milestones is not crucial. Give her plenty of opportunity to practise skills and she will develop them. If some options are not open to you (don't know why you didn't do tummy time in your case) then provide others. Crawling is great for open hand - swap for drumming and playing with playdough. It's also great for cross-body coordination - do exercises in their back to encourage them to touch opposite foot etc.

DS1 didn’t crawl until after his first birthday. He’s now playing junior county level sport…don’t panic (easy to say after the event, I do understand!).

mumonthehill · 27/08/2023 18:29

Yep second ds was slow to crawl, then loved crawling so much refused to walk so was very late. He is now 16 6ft2 and is just about to come back from a weekend of racing in his sport. He turned out fine in the end so please do not worry.

SiouxsieSiouxStiletto · 27/08/2023 19:51

If she's standing with assistance that's good, it means that she can bear weight.

I would try not to worry. Ask your HV to do the 12 month Ages & Stages. Don't worry if she's in the grey for a couple of things, they're not supposed to get everything on track as they all develop their skills at different rates. For instance my DS didn't roll until 11 months but could walk at 12 months.

My daughter didn’t walk until she was 17 months. No issues whatsoever.

Tummy time is a very recent invention neither of mine did any so please do not blame yourself all, you cannot make milestones happen they just happen You are not a sports coach

I know a perfectly typical 3 year old who only started walking at 2.5

Take them to dr if you have concerns and ask for help with anxiety while you are there xx

4catsaremylife · 28/08/2023 15:38

We have just been streaming old family video footage into the cloud so I have been watching my adult children when babies it's incredible the difference in development between the 3 of them. My youngest was way behind the other 2 but she caught up and is just as intelligent and lively by school age.

emeralue · 28/08/2023 15:56

My DD did practically no tummy time due to significant reflux, she absolutely hated it no matter what fun adjustments we made so in the end I gave up. She crawled, transferred to sitting and is now walking (well, running) everywhere, walking up stairs, etc. I get it, it's natural to be concerned (and warranted on some occasions) but you'll most probably look back in 6 months time and think "I wasted so much energy being unnecessarily worried rather than just enjoying my baby where she was at".
