Can't get 11m old to nap in their crib!

We sleep-trained DS (11m) recently - he's doing great overnight now. Goes to bed really easily and sleeps through the night. He'll nap in his crib at daycare, but won't at home. He just sits or stands up screaming for ages - even when he's really tired! We tried the sleep training nap plan, but I can't bring myself to leave him screaming for 15 minutes at a time before each check-in.

Did anyone else have this issue and successfully move to crib naps? We end up driving to get him to sleep when he won't go down at home. My work hours are flexible around him, but I'd really like to get some done during the day while he's napping instead of having to work until midnight lol.

Would the pram work? Go for a walk round the block and then park it on the patio or in the hall? Or get one of those Rockit things? DS was a great overnight sleeper but wouldn’t nap in his cot until he was over 2, I never pushed it as it’s so much more convenient to have an on the go napper than one who needs their own bed, black out blinds and a white noise machine!

He will sometimes, but not always! The car seat is where I can guarantee he'll go down, but the pram is touch and go. I'll try it for his afternoon nap today! I think he's right on the cusp of switching to a 1 nap schedule too so maybe that isn't helping 😣

It can be tough if he’s getting ready to cut out a nap.

You don’t have to leave him for 15 mins but I’d definitely leave him for as long as your comfortable with and hopefully he’ll eventually drop off.

No advice but I can count on one hand the number of times I have managed to get my toddler and baby to nap in their crib or cot. Instead I have to do pram naps or car. It's become a part of my routine anywhere I am to think which is most convenient today.

I've got an 11 month old who is the same. I think it's an age thing as mine doesn't want to be separated from me ever! Used to sleep in cot, now doesn't. I say leave him to cry for 5 - 10 mins when tired then go to plan b e.g. contact, pram, rocking or whatever. If you persevere with this he will eventually cot nap. Well I'm hoping this will happen to mine anyway.
