5 year old sleeping problems

Hello,

I'm hoping to get some advice about my 5 year olds sleeping 'problems'... I'll try to keep it short.

He's never been a great sleeper and will constantly be up and down all night, but a couple of times a month will sleep well.
Due to his poor sleep at night he is then very tired during the day. I've tired altering bedtime which is around 7.30pm at the moment, he goes to sleep well and will drift off alone (nobody sitting with him). But he is up and down then from about 11pm every couple hours. We've tried an earlier/later bedtime but he will still be up at about 5.30am with broken sleep through the night.
He sleep walks and talks a lot where he shouts out in his sleep/screams on occasion/stands on his bed laughing etc. All the time he is asleep and has no recollection in the morning. Then other times he will be fully awake.

We have a good bedtime routine, bath, milk/snack, relaxing and quieting down, lights out. He eats and drinks really well through the day. He gets enough stimulation mentally and physically during the daytime too.

I'm just wondering if anybody can give any other suggestions to help?

TIA

That sounds tough! Have you spoken to a GP about it? Have you tried a weighted blanket? Must be exhausting for him & you.

@Topjoe19 thank you for replying 😀

I've taken him a few times to the Drs and mentioned it but they didn't seem too bothered and told me to keep an on it...

I didn't think about the weighted blankets, thank you. That might be worth a try as I've heard things about them.

When my DD was 4 she had night terrors & a weighted blanket helped so it might be worth a go. I dont know if you've tried meditations, listening to calming meditation stories/music at bedtime. It sounds so difficult, hope it gets better soon.
