My 6 month has now week been awake for 2.5 hours I can't get him to go back to to sleep I'm currently sitting in the bathroom crying as I'm so frustrated I'm trying not to be but I'm finding it so hard. He is clearly tired he's not crying he's just shouting and rolling about he won't go in his cot tho he's currently lying on my bed doing this I've tried cuddling him just wants down on the bed won't take a bottle and this has been going on sick 12:30 I feel like I'm loosing my mind

Some babies just don't seem to get the idea of sleep and nighttime. My first was horrendous, but not sure what I could have done differently, apart from just don't worry. It feels like a lifetime but it's just a tiny phase really.

Some nights I used to just go and make a cup of tea and stick the tv on for half an hour. At that age they can only (usually!) stay awake for so long!

Sounds like sleep regression, my baby was sleeping longer stretches then suddenly was back sleeping like a newborn! The sleep deprivation is killing me, honestly. I'm up as well as baby is about to wake up. At that age, it's not uncommon. Are you breastfeeding? I found giving the night-time feed of pumped hindmilk or fortifying breastmilk helps her sleep a bit better. Also got a heart-beat toy that helps her relax and go back to sleep at night.
Sorry, OP. It's the worst, I know.

I feel your pain! Until recently were having to co-sleep (not out of choice) and my son was still waking hourly and usually refusing to go back down. I was surviving on 3ish hours of broken sleep a night.

With my return to work pending and the entire family going crazy, following consultation with my GP we decided to sleep train. We chose the Ferber method, slightly adjusted with shorter ‘check in times’ and it worked within 2-3 days. He now sleeps 7-7 with no wake ups. He’s 7 months old and we sleep trained him at 6 months.

Sleep training is a personal choice and I understand the stigma surrounding it but it has literally changed our lives and I cannot recommend it highly enough. We are happier and our baby is happier.

I didn't sleep train but every baby and every situation and family are different. But like they said a happy mum/parent makes for a happy baby.
The thing is you can't crack sleeping early. Look how your bath changes and grows every day. The smile, roll, crawl, walk and grow. At 6 months they're nothing like the tiny baby who slept, their needs change constantly. Plus you have to add in the teething pain they have to go through. Trapped wind they can't burp out, and getting used to the only person they have known (Mum) puts them down and leaves them, it's a lot. But it ends xx
