Fuzzis suddenly leaking - help!

Dd2 (20 months) is in medium fuzzis. I use a hemparoo insert with a microfibre on top. It has worked perfectly for ages. However, suddenly they are leaking. All of them. It seems as soon as she does a wee it leaks.

I can't work out what's going on. They are poppered on the tightest round the tummy and sometimes the tightest round the legs and sometimes second popper - it depends on the fuzzi. I rinse, before wash and then rinse after. No bubbles left by last rinse. Don't use much powder. Don't use barrier creams.

it's driving me mad.

Is the insert very wet when you change her after a leak?

Have you changed your washing powder recently?

has she had a growth spurt, or been ill?

dd went through a v leaky phase when she had a growth spurt as her legs got longer and thinner, so poppered bits that were previously snug didn't fit quite so well

Insert is usually pretty wet. Not changed powder.

This morning went to change nappy before went out - inserts still bone dry. Replaced nappy. One hour later - soaking wet and leaked out of one leg. She seems to be doing huge wees rather then smaller frequent wees now. Can fuzzis not cope with that? Never had any probs with dd1 in fuzzis.

She hasn't been ill and don't think she's had a growth spurt - still quite small. I do have a few Happy heinys, however she loves to undo them! They don't leak.

Aha!

It's not the fuzzis themselves it's your inserts!

Hemp can take a while to absorb so isn't so good at coping with a lot of liquid at once. Fuzzis and anything fuzzi shaped is particularly prone to just chucking the excess liquid out the sides so you get leaks under the buttock region.

You are right to put the quick-absorbing MF insert on top. I would suggest you either add extra inserts (MF ones) or change to a different insert type for a while. Make sure the inserts go up to the edge of the nappy too to catch anything before it escapes.

Thanks BBM I'll give that a go. I've had a look and you're right - there is a slight gap at each side of the fuzzi leg. I'll dig my large hemp ones out of the loft and see if they fit a bit a bit more snugly.

Thanks!

No probs, the bigger ones should help. Had exactly the same problem before myself - took me a while to work it out and in the meantime poor DD2 had very tighly done up nappies, little red nappy marks and soggy trousers
