H width feet toddler?

So when I got my now 20month old’s feet measured he was a H width, he wasn’t walking yet and I feel since then his feet don’t seem as wide?

I have an adidas and Nike pair that seem to fit him good and Nike is good for wider feet I think! Crocs I’ve heard too?

but anyone got any brands to avoid? I tried Vans and I feel they weren’t the best!

but do I just stick to those 3 brands which are quite easy to buy/find and avoid like converse/vans?

The Clark’s shop lady said just to size up half a size due to width and it’s not an issue so I’ve done this (sized up 1 full size before as some only do certain sizes so not a 4 but a 4.5 then 5.5 and so on etc)

My advice?

don’t bother with brands like crocs and Nike at this age!

Flipflipmania · 21/08/2023 08:29

Local independent show shops tend to be good

@Flipflipmania hey may I ask why? The Nike / adidas shoes we’ve bought have been on sale and lasted quite well so far if you mean because he’s young and they can be expensive?

My DC has G-width feet and we have pretty much been living off of Clarks and Crocs so good to know that Adidas and Nike are fairly generous.

Other than that though we have been doing the same as the Clarks reps have suggested and getting shoes half a size up which seems to work. The only ones we had any issues with were some knock-off Crocs which gave him blisters but we've put that down to 'getting what you pay for'.

Just fyi, Geox was a great brand for both of my H width kids.

Danikm151 · 21/08/2023 15:13

Adidas are good for wide fit. Asda’s first walkers do a good width too!

Jenny2020 · 22/08/2023 06:20

My little one was the same with the wide feet she's 3 almost 4 and still is ,
my advice is stick to strap like trainers the elastic laces are no good ,
and for us sports direct always have great prices on these

PinkPlantCase · 22/08/2023 06:52

We’ve found it depends more on the style of the shoe, so just make sure that they are adjustable in atleast 2 places going down the foot. Clarks have generally worked out fine for us.

escapingthecity · 22/08/2023 09:45

Is your DC now walking? I would get their feet measured again. You do know they shouldn't wear structured shoes until walking is well established?

escapingthecity · 22/08/2023 09:47

And I would avoid adult designer brands and focus on specially made kids brands. DH bought some Nikes for our 4yo and they lasted no time at all, whereas whenever we've used kid brands like Clark's or Bobux they have been much more robust. Nike/Converse etc basically just make small versions of their adult shoes and I don't think they're as good for developing feet.

Lindsz · 22/08/2023 12:47

I will get his feet remeasured but just to point out he is walking fully (running mainly😂) and the Nike shoes have lasted and still are great condition. Only spent £20 on them too so not all of the sports brands are bad

How long has he been wearing the Nikes out of interest?

Fuckingfuckssake · 22/08/2023 15:19

Mark's and Spencer's do wide fit, used to have a great range called Walkmates.

Lindsz · 22/08/2023 18:31

@Flipflipmania can I ask why you’re asking this?

Kids sketchers and some adidas are wide, I don't find Nike, converse or vans very wide for my children. Once walking more id get them measured and buy Clark's or startrite as they have proper support.

@Flipflipmania can I ask why you’re asking this?

Because I’m intrigued that you say the Nikes have lasted really well, whether you meant in terms of sizing or not looking bashed
