Does this sound like an infection?

My 5 year old has started behaving really strangely in the evenings. She seems fine and like her normal self in the morning and daytime, but at 5pm she starts crying and complaining of a stomach ache, sore throat and headache. She won't let me out of her sight and clings to me like she's a baby again. It's like she's turned into a completely different child. Does it sound like she's ill or is something else going on? Has anyone else experienced anything similar? Thanks

Have you tried giving her Calpol to see if she improves?

Any big changes?

Is she worried about being put to bed?

It doesn't make much of a difference to the psychological symptoms which are the ones I'm finding hard. She's had this behaviour for around 2 weeks combined with the stomach cramps and complaints about being poorly

Is she eating something in particular around 5?

No I've tried asking if she's worried about that or anything else and she just cries and says she doesn't know what's wrong with her, and that she feels poorly.
To be fair, she does behave like this when unwell but she has no fever and seems ok in the daytime

She has a 6 month old brother, and it's the summer holidays, so we are out of routine, but this is just so out of character compared to anything I've seen.

She did also go to Legoland 3 weeks ago and got scared on the ghost ride, but I'm not sure it's linked

Yes she has dinner around 5.30pm but isn't eating much of it, generally starts rolling on the floor complaining of stomach cramps. It's not constipation.

She did have a nasty stomach bug before the summer holidays but I've not heard of them lingering like this

Take her to a doctor

I'd try her with some probiotics if she's had a stomach upset. One MNer was recently recommending the Peppa Pig ones.

It could be anxiety too, my DD said she had stomach ache a lot at that age and it turned out to be anxiety. Have you got the Great Big Book of Feelings?
