Hand foot mouth - 2 yo not eating

Hello, my 2 yo has HFM. He's not able to get down anything but water. He begs for food and then cries hysterically because it hurts his lips and mouth. He's on nurofen and alternatively calpol. We've tried yogurt, soft mashed potato, blended porridge, mashed banana, milk with straw/in cup/ in syringe and no luck. GP wasn't very helpful. Are there any gels I could use on his mouth? Any other ideas?

Mine had this plus teething molars and a throat infection, all at the same time, it was hell!

Mini-milks the ice creams, give them after pain free.

Mine ended up scoffing 5 in one sitting and then getting brain freeze (but they hadn't eaten or drunk a drop and were about to be admitted to hospital for IV fluids) - that was the only thing that turned it all around for us.

*after pain relief, that meant

@Toddler101 that sounds so hellish. Glad you found something that worked. I will try to pick some up- did a big click and collect with Popsicles but didn't think of ice cream.

I was going to say lollies too. And apple juice. Hope they feel better soon. X

We did get some ice lollies and he had two yesterday, thanks for that tip. He has been pretty hysterical and having the most intense tantrums we've ever experienced, poor boy is in so much pain and so hungry. He had an insane meltdown this morning over not being able to eat, screaming hysterically about wanting an oat bar and it hurt his mouth, we weren't sure what to do as he wouldn't take anything softer and eventually he just inhaled three of them despite it apparently being painful. Lots more spots on his feet and legs but none around his mouth, just inside. I hope this passes soon 😩

My lips are tingling now so worried I've got it also. He never had a fever and hopefully I won't get one as I'm 5 weeks pregnant.

When DS had it we relied on mini milk and ice pops as per PP, we also drenched weetabix in milk and let it go soggy so it was soft for him to eat/drink. He also preferred tube yoghurts as they were less painful than using a spoon around the sores.
