I'm curious to know how old people think children need to be before it's okay to leave them in the bath. We have 2 dd's aged 4 and 2, and they usually bathe together. dh doesn't think they need to be watched any more but I'm not so sure. What is your experience?

DH sits in the office (next door to bathroom) whilst DS is in the bath .. he's been doing this for a number of months now .. DS is 3.10 and very very loud in the bath

I do worry but the only way to change it is to do it myself and its DH's time

I don't leave my two aged 7 and 4 as the 4yr old still likes lying on his tummy to blow bubbles but has occasionally gone under. Plus I'm scared they slip. Bathtime is for daddy and the boys to play so I only do it occasionally.

I suppose it goes to show Marialuisa that what constitutes a risk for one child is not a risk for another. If she can swim without aids then I guess its a different kettle of fish

thasnkyou everyone for your opinions. Our 2 are very noisy and we can always hear them. I do pop out to fetch towels/tidy bedroom/etc but they love their bath and stay in for up to 45 minutes, so I think dh gets bored as he doesn't do any of those sorts of things when he does the bathing. Tonight he left them to thier own devices and came downstairs. We heard splashing, thumping and crashing noises and he went up to see what they were doing. They were diving out of the bath (both of them!!!) headfirst onto the floor then diving back in headfirst!!!! The point was made and I don't think we'll need to have another discussion about it for a while!!!!

didnt let ds bath alone until he was 6 and even now with the door open and i sit on the sofa listening to him and shout up to him every two minutes. im another one of the "trying to get out, slipping and knocking himself out" type thing. hes clumsy at the best of times and i just dont trust him!
