How do I cope in pain with toddler

Fractured my tail bone last week. Single mum to 17 month old. In agony every time I pick him up and bend down to pick something off the floor. Can’t run or even walk fast so scared to go for walks with him in case he runs off.
I know it will heal eventually but I just feel so down about it and like it’s compromising my ability to be a mother :(

I'm sure you're doing a great job as a mother. If he's safe, fed and loved then you're doing great. You have a broken tailbone, give yourself a break!
Buy him some reins, goto a soft play with a friend so he can run around safely and freely, put loads of telly on and buy an industrial bag of chocolate buttons... then another for yourself Flowers

Oh, that sounds painful.

You need to let yourself recover. Just to whatever you need to do (distract your DC with the telly; call a babysitter; order deliveroo), it is absolutely no reflection on your ability as a mum.

Hope you recover soon :)

I ordered a litter pick up stick ( from amazon) when I was recovering from a c section and then gall bladder surgery as couldn't bend to pick things up with a toddler, maybe that might help? X

Thank you all x
Will have a look at that stick & gonna try take it easy (although is hard with a toddler who wants to be out all day 🤣)

I think at 17 months they can also be contained in pram if needed. Yes you would usually let them out to wander and at park, but for a few days at least they get some fresh air, they might nap, and you can slowly walk with pram to help you.

Manage your pain with strong pain meds so you're able to feed/wash and care for him and your baby without being in agony.

Oh hun.
I had a post a few weeks ago as was at home with my 14 month old alone with sickness and diarrhoea.

A really really long bath (him) while I had my head down the toilet in between washing him (he found the vomitting hilarious
Lots of tv day
Bath games
Longgg walk in the buggy
Obstacle course alone the living room with cushions

Just some ideas. Hope you feel better soon. Its brutal
