Travel cot 3years plus?

Hi all. My 3 year old son has nearly hit the weight limit of our travel cot (15kg). Are larger travel cots available or would you normally just put them in a normal bed at this stage? My in laws don't have any more spare beds so just considering what to do when we go there in the future. Thanks.

Readybed... its a combined sleeping/air mattress thing.

I didn't realise any 3 year olds were still in cots / travel cots. Just use a normal bed, and if bed space is limited a kids inflatable bed

As above. Not used a travel cot since my son was about 11 months. Either normal bed (can get travel bed rails if worried about falling out) or a readybed is good.

A ReadyBed like a PP said or, we had something like this https://www.argos.co.uk/product/7608182
We had it when he was about 2 for travelling - so not quite in a full bed at home, so it was great and used it up to around 4 (probably would've lasted longer but COVID put an end to travel for a while!

Great thanks will check out the ready bed sounds like just what we need. Ha did expect some of the 'why is he in a travel cot aged 3' type comments. He is on the small side and likes to sleep curled up so has worked well up until now 😊

Jesus people can be judgmental. My 3 year old is still in a cot at home and travel cot when away from home, he's happy and doesn't try to get out. Tbh I'm not sure of the weight limit but I recently got a Hauck one which is the same size as his cot so bigger than a standard travel cot and it's great.

We've got the Little Lite travel cot for our 2.5 year old and she has tonnes of room in it. She's still in her cot at home. and I want to keep her in that for as long as possible, so I don't want to risk using a proper bed when we travel and her getting any ideas of nighttime freedom!!

It has the added bonus of being very lightweight and small when packed away, and can be used as a tent outside for play etc

Just checked the dimensions of the mattress on the website and it's 120x70, which is nearly the same size as her actual cot (which is 140x70). That should do the job for you?

My daughter was still in a cot at 3 OP, both at home and a travel cot when away. And she was in sleeping bags til 4! If it ain’t broke don’t fix it is my motto when it comes to sleep!!

now she has a ready bed, a little blow up mattress with a built in pillow and sleeping bag. They come with various characters on which adds to the appeal somewhat! If there’s an actual bed available we always use that though.

We have a toddler air bed which our DS used from around age 3. Very useful as it has sides so he didn’t fall out in the night! https://www.argos.co.uk/product/7608182

At 3 I’d be worried if he decides he doesn’t want to be in it then he could easily tip the whole thing over in an attempt to escape… mine has been in a normal bed since before 2, at home and on holiday. Just don’t make the first night in a big bed when you go away! Tackle the not getting up or falling out thing in your own house first.

Yep good thinking @TropicalTrama
