When did you loose baby weight?

Hi all :)

I had my little boy 5 months ago and have been exercising regularly and eating a healthy balanced diet for around two months and haven’t lost anything! Before have a baby I was 10 stone with the same diet/training routine that I have been on the last 2 months but am still 12 stone , I love weight training because of the way it makes me feel and gives me more energy! But I’m starting to feel really disheartened that I haven’t lost anything and also wondering why! I really want my old clothes to fit soon as I can’t afford any more, I just wondered what everyone else’s experience was/is? XX

Within a few months. But Ds was breastfed And wouldn’t calm down unless walked. So hours a day walking with him in sling or pram.
I think I ate less also as couldn’t prep anything easily with baby, and hated feeding Ds when I had just eaten as he was large baby and squished my stomach. And he ate hourly so doesn’t leave much time to eat

Do you walk a lot? I think that helps more than food tbh.

I'm 7 months post partum and csection. I'm a stone heavier than I'd like to be. I feel my shape has changed too, much wider hips,.belly sticks out, rib cage is wider. So even if I can just about fit in my old clothes they don't hang the same on me and dont look flattering. Think I'm going to slowly replace my whole wardrobe!
I've been trying to lose weight for months but not made any progress. My diet it ok but I struggle with exercise. Hard to find the energy and time to do it regularly, and I had a really active job but now on maternity leave I'm at home most of the time. My current plan is to try intermittent fasting.

I had my baby in November 2021, my sister was getting married in the summer so I did put slot of pressure in myself which wasn't nice but I had lost all of the weight by the spring.. by the summer I was quite a few lbs lighter than I was before I got pregnant but my body shape has changed I felt heavier. It's a really weird feeling. My hips have always been big but now all my weight sits there

First baby the weight fell off with breastfeeding and healthy eating but it was only half a stone. Second time I’d put on 2 stone and did weight watchers to lose it; that was as route that worked for me as ot was slow and steady so not constantly hungry. After I lost it I could go back to how I ate pre baby as that maintained my weight.

I'm 8months pp and still wearing maternity jeans although some of my bigger 'normal' clothes fit.

I put on 5st but definitely ate more and suddenly wasn't able to exercise as developed swelling in my head which made my optic nerve swell and I essentially lost most of my vision so couldn't do anything without my poor husband guiding me. I managed to loose 2st after birth which was mainly baby and water etc but the last 3 I need to work on.

I wouldn't worry too much. When things feel more settled for you and you feel like you have the time etc to focus on you it'll come off. Maybe look at if you have a good routine around meals etc. For me I'm lucky if I get my 1st meal at teatime so will just grab odd bits before hand while I'm sorting kids or cleaning so while I have a balanced evening meal I'm actually eating a lot of empty calories snacking rather than making time for something more healthy. I often think I haven't eaten a lot today but if I add up the calories in the bits I've had on the go it's clearly enough to maintain my current weight!

I put on 3 stone in pregnancy (!) but it all fell off within a few months. I had a difficult time giving birth ending in an EMCS but am still breastfeeding which I think is meant to help too.

I did buy some clothes when I was bigger as there’s nothing more miserable than not being able to fit into what you want to wear.

He's starting Uni and I'm still trying!

snowballsinhell · 12/08/2023 14:25

I'm one of those ones who was back in my size 8 clothes within a week

I exclusively breastfed the two of them for 18m

However I will point this out - I watched what I ate, constantly. I did not binge on chocolate bars at 03:00 like you hear some mums doing. I had the occasional sugar craving - but I managed these by eating low calorie snack bars, you know the Home Bargain type ones

It's also worth adding that I watched what I ate during my pregnancies too, so I didn't have much to lose. My babies were big (8lb 5oz and 9lb 10oz)

Tina8800 · 12/08/2023 17:25

3 months. The secret is to not buy any new clothes. I love my size 8 clothes so much (and they were expensive) I couldn't afford or wanted to buy bigger sized ones.

Not going to lie, it was hard. I was breastfeeding so I couldn't go on a crazy diet, but I was eating healthy and stopped snacking.

SErunner · 12/08/2023 19:26

This will vary so much depending on how much weight someone has gained in pregnancy. I gained 9kg, had an 8lb baby and was back to my normal weight and in my normal clothes within a week. Obviously if you've gained 3 stone it's going to take longer. Probably not the time to be restricting yourself, just make sensible choices and allow the occasional treat but get more active to help burn more calories. At 5 months I was still walking for hours every day on mat leave, and they're still a good age to do exercise classes you can take a baby to?

Junebuggirl · 13/08/2023 07:55

I read you're to give your body a year to recover from pregnancy

Figgygal · 13/08/2023 07:59

Dc1 put on 3 stone at last measure lost it within 6 months I was 30

Dc2 at 35 again put on 3 stone took a year

LovelyGirlsCompetition · 13/08/2023 08:03

It’s taken five years, only drastic calorie reduction combined with regular cardio has worked to shift some of it. Baby weight sticks to me like glue and sadly there’s still a long way to go.

hol92 · 13/08/2023 14:45

just made the terrible mistake of going into a changing room for the first time since having him to try find somthing nice to wear for our anniversary- now feel even worse!

I think it’s frustrating me so much because I’m working so hard to loose it and nothing seems to be working I think I definitely am going to have to restrict further, I hate that I’m now letting it bother me x

@Janieforever

1500 calories per day is very irresponsible advice to give.

Unless you are laying in bed all day you would definitely be in a deficiency at 1800 per day.

Use a reliable calorie counter (not the recommended calories advised on my fitness Pal) www.jamessmithacademy.com/macro-calculator/

Upping your protein may help but truth is your body is still producing a lot of hormones to revert back to 'normal' and won't return back to normal until your menstrual cycle returns.

Lammveg · 11/10/2023 14:47

I breastfed but didn't loose anything significant until about 5/6 months PP, and that was with long dog walks carrying DD in a carrier and with a calorie restriction. I'm still BF 9 month PP and now the weight has stayed off even though I'm no longer calorie restricting. I think that's because DD is now massive and I'm still carrying her on long daily walks lol

When my marriage ended... so three to four years after the birth.
