Is there a nappy that doesnt leak Poo!!

DS is 6 months, he is in size 4 nappies

Before i get tons of comments saying that size is too big. Size 3 is visibly too short and not not well fitting around the waist. Also leaks urine and poo.

Size 4 visibly fits better but leaks poo most times.

I have tried pampers baby dry, Aldi, Asda and Sainsbury's!

It could be he is in between sizes?
He is not a big baby, average weight for his age

Never had poo leak with kit and kin! They are expensive though.

Inthesky42 · 10/08/2023 11:23

Going to sound a bit patronising here but have you tried putting the nappy on differently?
Where does the leak usually happen?
I swore by sainsburys due to the stretchy back which always caught a poonami. The trick with the fit is.. Ensure you get the nappy nice and flat up the back and beyond belly button level (vests can have a big impact on actually managing this first bit so if in doubt take it off!) then pull nappy up over the front and heres the trick.. Slightly angle the fastenings at the front... Don't overlap them so it's a tight band around the tummy instead angle down about 45 degrees so the nappy is more secure around the bum cheeks at the back. Then always always make sure the frilly bits are pulled out around the legs, any bit of frill tucked into the elastic cuff inside the leg band will mean a leak!

Finally assuming you are starting to wean leaking poo will not be so much of an issue soon as it gets a bit more 'thick'!

Apart from new born sizes I found reusable nappies pretty bomb proof and good at not leaking poo.

I don’t know if people ever put a reusable wrap over a disposable? That might work if you don’t want to actually do reusables but want a bit of extra protection. Wrap could be wiped/washed but the main poo could still go in the bin.

@Inthesky42 the cuffs are the main culprit! I always pull them out! I will try your suggestion on the way its put on!

I always used Tesco or Rascal and friends which you can get at tesco. Could it be he needs to size up to a 5? Have you tired nappy pants as well as sticker tape ones

Strangerthingshavehappenedtome · 10/08/2023 12:29

Tesco Fred and Flo are the only nappies I swear by

Seasidesusy · 10/08/2023 12:31

We switched to reusable nappies when DS was about 12 weeks and never had a leak after that. I’d highly recommend giving them a go.

mobear · 10/08/2023 12:31

We used Kit & Kin and Naty. Poo peaks were very rare.

feelingshamefull · 10/08/2023 12:32

Try Lidl 👏🏼

Mummy08m · 10/08/2023 12:32

We used eco by naty and didn't have leaks often. Just like the commenter said upthread, you've got to pull out the leg frills.

Also if the poos are very wet, it can help to fold inwards the back waistband - depending on the brand and the shape of DC's back. Worth a try and see if it helps.

Reusable. Tots bots. Never had poo leak or overnight wee leak

Devilsmommy · 10/08/2023 12:36

Pampers active fit nappy pants. Mine was in size 4 at this age and these are the absolute best because of the poo pocket at the back😁

MooseBreath · 12/08/2023 02:58

Mama Bear (Amazon) work the best for my kids. Pampers was only good with Active Fit, but it's way too expensive, and Sainsbury's was ok. Aldi was useless.

At 6 months at an average size, I hate to say it (and I accept I could be wrong), but I think he's wearing a size too big (I know you say he isn't) or it's not being tightened enough at the waist.

Wanderinghome · 12/08/2023 03:43

I used cloth nappies, mostly Little Lovebum, with my two children and never had any poo leaks.

Glendaruel · 12/08/2023 05:35

I get leaks when I use disposable but not with reuseable. I use a two part nappy, so if it gets through first layer you have the wrap (motherease are bomb proof).

Cowlover89 · 12/08/2023 05:37

Little angels. Never had any issues

Pinktruffle · 12/08/2023 11:38

I'm going to guess it's the way you are putting the nappy on. I've used Aldi, Asda, Tesco, My Pura and Pampers with both my boys and only ever had poo leaks when they were newborns. Is it high and tight enough? Could you try a reusable wrap like someone suggested?

fuckityfuckityfuckfuck · 12/08/2023 11:47

Reusable. They fit properly so no leaks. Paper and plastic disposables held together with a sticky tab are never going to fit in the same way to contain poonamis.

Gigi89x · 12/08/2023 22:23

Thanks all for the tips

Reusable for sure. Was amazing to have no leaks when we switched at 7 weeks. The Nappy Lady website has all the information and a quiz to find the best nappies for your baby.

They are the worst for poo leaking I've found! Do babies have different shape bums?

Try Lidl 👏🏼

These are the best and I've tried many more expensive brands but they're not totally poonami proof

Junebuggirl · 13/08/2023 07:51

Sainsbury's own
