Tell me about your parent facing prams!

Hello

I’ve got a 2yo (weighs about 16kg) who will happily sit in a pram and loves a pram nap (lucky me!) but only if it’s parent facing. Plus, we love a chat as we walk!

I also sometimes pop my 5 month old in the pram if my back needs a break from the sling and 2 yo wants a walk. My 5 month old doesn’t seem to like to be placed anywhere for more than 5 minutes… somewhat unhelpfully. But I’m sure that will change in time!

Can anybody tell me if there is such a thing as a parent facing pram that takes kids up to 22kg and lies flat ish for a smaller baby?!

All I’ve managed to find is a Baby Jogger Vue that was discontinued about 9 years ago 🥴

Thank you!

Bugaboo Bee should do that.

There are loads of them these days. The kicker is if you want it lie flat without the carrycot, you need one where the seat hinges rather than the moulded type.

Look at Cybex balios S, the newest one. Also Cybex Priam but I think it's overpriced.
Maxi Cosi have a few
Joie versatrax? Do they still do the chrome?
ABC Design have a couple
Easywalker.

The other thing to look at is the actual size of the seat, as most parent facing prams won't take a 3yo comfortably, even if they have the 22kg weight limit, and the ones with bigger seats look clunky so they aren't as popular. Teeny tiny seats and moulded seats are the in thing 🤷 I had an absolutely brilliant one for my eldest but he's 14 now and they don't make them any more. Bébéconfort (bought out by maxi Cosi) Loola Up. Best pram ever, I loved that thing. Only 15kg limit though but they all were back then.

Also bear in mind a pushchair is not a car seat, you can go over the weight, it's just that regularly using it with higher weights in it will wear it out more quickly.

They are generally more structurally stable when used in forward facing mode too - it's something to do with the weight distribution. Worth bearing in mind.

Bugaboo fox - we have the fox 2 and it's weight limit is 22kg and it's got quite a large seat. I presume the later models have the same weight limit.

The seat has three positions (including pretty flat back) and can parent and world face.

The Mountain Buggy Cosmopolitan does everything you're looking for - we've had one for 6 years now and I still love it.

My joie versatrax one is great! Can face either way, can lie flat, is sturdy. We love it.

I had a Quinny that did that both one that was a travel system Buzz I think and a Zapp pushchair. DD is a teen now but I'm sure they'll be a newer model, I really liked how comfortable the seats were and even the Zapp could be tilted so they could sleep laying down and I really liked how much higher it was compared to other pushairs so no feet dragging on the floor and away from the exhaust fumes. DD used it on and off until she was four as I didn't drive she was exceptionally tall (still is) and was the size of a 6 year old so your DC would fit easily.

You might have some luck with older prams on ebay as people have a clear out if you liked the Baby jogger.

Oyster 3. Got it a month ago and we both love it. Mine hated her previous one as the seat wasn't deep enough and didn't sit properly upright. With Oyster 3 you can swap seat direction.

Lostthetastefordahlias · 07/08/2023 00:16

Bumbleride Era - lies flat, can face either way, from newborn, capacity to 24kg - has air filled tyres for rough terrain, not a city pushchair probably but I have loved it for getting out in the countryside.

Maxi Cosi Zelia Luxe is a 2 in 1.
You could have it parent facing sat up for your older child then lie it down into a bassinet for the baby. Holds up to 22kg and easily turns around forward facing if needed

Oyster 3. My tall and heavy 3 year old is still in it now. Its not at all rickety like some umbrella type prams can be, its been used daily and still in great condition!

TinyTeacher · 07/08/2023 11:41

DO you need a double or onee that converts?

We love out bugabo donkey. Got it second hand as tbeybare pricey, but there are lots in great condition in eBay usually.

That's a double, but you can do single + small shopping bag if you only have one with you.

My twins love a pram nap still, and we're keeping that one for DC4 even though we mostly won't need a double by then. There is a flat bassinet for the first 6 months or so, which you then swap to the toddler bit. Can face in eitherdirection and can change the tilt very easily - I take mine out sktting up butrecline them once they are asleep usually.

Downside - although it folds up, because the seatshave a rigid frame it's still fairly big and takes up a fair amount of boot space

Thanks so much everyone! Loads of great options here so I’m sure I will find what I need out of all these 😊
