Which buggy for holidays?

We’re off to Lanzarote with our 14m old next week for 10 days. We bought a travel buggy (Zummi Explorer) for the trip but baba doesn’t love it and it’s quite flimsy. Tbf it was a bad buy but I’m not buying a third buggy haha. Now we’re thinking of taking our regular buggy, Silver Cross Wave. Our friend took her UB Vista on holidays and raved about taking the main buggy - big basket for beach toys, sturdy on the uneven footpaths, baby used to it. Anyone do similar or have advice?
We fly Ryanair and can keep the buggy to the door of the aircraft. Has anyone used those buggy bags to prevent damage? Thanks so much!

I’m still in the process of looking, our ds will be 7 months old when we go. I’m looking at the lightweight ones but unsure- silver cross jet, cybex orfeo (looks a bit flimsy), cybex eezy twist (similar but parent facing), or bugaboo butterfly. Check about weight for your main pram, the thing putting me off the larger bigger buggies is the 10kg weight limit. Are you just going to pay the extra? To be fair that’s probably cheaper than buying another. Can your main one be folded in one piece?

Our travel system was handed down and it’s quite old. Ds cries quite a bit in it. so I’m trying to use this as a chance to buy something he might like/be comfortable in. Knowing my luck it won’t work out.

I never even thought about the weight limit… Ryanair just say “two pieces” but no weight limit I must ring them. It is also two parts, not just one 🙈
So much to think about!! I wish buggies and high chairs had a 30 day money back guarantee, wouldn’t have spent €500 on a Stoke that sits in the corner unused 😂😂

Not all airlines have the 10kg limit so you might be fine. The light travel ones are mainly useful if you will use lots of public transport on holiday or have to carry it up and down stairs (eg in accommodation or hilly towns). Hand luggage ones are only needed if you have a layover or really need to use it in the airport on arrival as some airports only return them at the baggage carasol. I do miss the huge basket of our normal pram when I travel. Two parts might count as two items so check that.

@Blue2020 100% go for the Buttefly. I love ours so much I use it over our main pushchair every day now. Basket underneath fits loads in and it’s so easy to fold and open. Feels nice to push too. Baby also seems to be more comfortable in the butterfly than his main pushchair.

@Elmers ah Thankyou, it’s good to hear it’s now your everyday go to.

That’s a good point maybe yours won’t have the limit. We are going with jet2 and it says 10kg online.

I've flown to several European countries and US and all have handed in the pram at the gate and returned prams at baggage so personally find having a carry on pram so handy for immigration (a lifesaver for loong US immigration, but less of an issue in Europe destination). Although I have checked in the pram a couple of times and wish I had thought of taking a bag to put it in, it didn't get badly damaged but definitely didn't look like it had been handled that carefully.

We have just bought the Zummi Eden (upto 22kgs) for our 16 month old- not been using it long but impressed with it so far! But if you have had a bad experience with Zummi I understand your hesitation, I liked the look of the Silvercross Clic but couldn't justify the extra £90 on similar features!

I love our babyzen yo-yo. It’s been travelling everywhere and several times others haven’t received there pram at gate on arrival and had to carry child 1-2 hours at long passport arrival queues. Then I have been grateful to have it in handluggage and just put child into pram.

Also abroad we have had to fold pram often in restaurants or in small accommodation and car hire boot small with suitcases as well. I wouldn’t fit our mountain buggy in small vw polo we last ended up with at car hire as well as two medium cases, hand luggage, coats etc

When I took my DD on holiday I actually bought a cheap second hand stroller from Facebook. Ended up getting a Maclaren Techno (think it's an XLR) for £50, in excellent condition.

We actually liked it so much we ended up using it as the main buggy! Everything I read about Maclaren is that they are indestructible and I can attest to that with ours! It's in the same condition as when I bought it so can probably sell on again once we are finished in the next six months or so (don't actually use it anymore).

We always brought our main buggy on holidays on Ryanair and it is also in two parts. No problem at all, it is brilliant having the good buggy for naps

I have this pram for going on holiday with my 6 month old in September.
HOMCOM 2 in 1 Pushchairs and Strollers w/Reversible Seat, Single Hand Foldable Lightweight Baby Stroller w/Fully Reclining Backrest 5-Point Harness Adjustable Handlebar, from Birth to 3 Yrs, Grey amzn.eu/d/7GA73E8
Wanted one that was parent facing and collapsed into 1 piece. Seems good quality for a decent price
