Best baby wipes- struggled 5 years ago!

I'm about to have a 3rd baby after a bit of a gap. Last time round, they stopped doing my favourite wipes (johnson's sensitive). I'm really not in a position to use reuseable wipes all the time as 4 of us are very sporty and outdoorsy and so washing machine is already on 8ish times a week (before newborn is here). I might get a few reuseable wipes, but honestly, for my sanity, disposable will be my mainstay.

Which disposable wipes are good these days? I guess they've probably changed formulations in the last 5 years. I like ones that are not going to irritate/ perfumed, not too wet of too dry, not too pricey, come out one at a time, easy to open, not too thin/small. It sounds so straight-forward but I didn't get on with loads 5 years ago! Hopefully they're different now.

Here's what I remember thinking-
Huggies (a little too dry, but these were my second favourite)
Aldi- too thin
Pampers and pampers sensitive- baby reacted
Asda- baby reacted, too thin and too dry
Water wipes- too pricey
Tesco - too thin

AIBU or are there now wipes that are decent? I'll obviously be willing to retry wipes my babies reacted to, as each baby is different.

My favourites are pampers sensitive, Aldi's or Morrisons nutmeg ones.
I've not found any of the above too thin

Stay clear of Asda they stink.

Batbatbatty · 02/08/2023 19:36

Current favourite are the Amazon Mama Bear Fresh wipes. Textured and just perfectly wet!

CastleTower · 02/08/2023 19:39

Best ones are Kit and Kin.

But we also use Cheeky Wipes more than wet wipes - much cheaper, more effective on poo, you can wet them yourself to your preferred wetness and generally greener. Sometimes only a good old wet wipe will do, of course.

Pampers sensitive but I do love our aldi reusable. I throw them in with the normal washing so no extra washing really

Lochroy · 02/08/2023 19:59

Most of them have changed hugely in the last couple of years to remove plastics which is obviously a good thing, but IMHO leaves crappy thin and useless wipes.
They've also nearly all removed the solid plastic lids which clicked shut and kept your wipes moist in favour of the flimsy peel backs, or some have a slightly thicker stick down lid.

I am yet to find decent wipes now without paying extortionate sums.

Morrisons nutmeg ones. The yellow ones. None are perfect but these are the closest to ticking all the boxes.

PinkPlantCase · 02/08/2023 20:02

Just add the reusable wipes to your usual washing. They wipe so so much better than disposable ones.

Oldermum84 · 02/08/2023 20:05

Mum & You biodegradable wipes from Amazon.

lochmaree · 02/08/2023 20:15

I'd just add reusable ones to your normal washing, they don't take up much space.

DuploTrain · 02/08/2023 20:19

Boots fragrance free are my favourite. I order in bulk online usually.

MakeMeShine · 02/08/2023 20:24

Steer clear of any that say biodegradable on them - they just fall apart while you’re wiping baby.

trampoline123 · 02/08/2023 20:29

I always think people asking questions like these need to try them all. It's like a right of passage trying to find the right nappy, wipe, water bottle etc...can't count the amount of bloody water bottles I bought until I found the perfect one.

Anyway, my favourite wipes are:

Lidl
Fred and Flo from Tesco
The Amazon own brand is good - mama bear or something

MakeMeShine · 02/08/2023 20:31

@trampoline123 Oh man I hate the Tesco ones! They just rip apart as you’re using them.

fourlambbhunas · 02/08/2023 20:31

I think Aldi changed theirs a couple of years ago and they're now slightly thicker. I find them the best out of all the ones we've tried and also really gentle on skin as we all have eczema and they don't irritate that luckily :)

wendall456 · 02/08/2023 20:36

Home bargains are the best I,ve found. They are embossed, quite thick, don't stink and are just the right amount of wetness to them and cheaper than the main supermarkets.

Haha! Point proven, but tbf I haven't used them in a few years so maybe they changed 🤷‍♀️

Belltentdreamer · 02/08/2023 21:13

Mama Bear Ultra sensitive wipes on Amazon

MariaVT65 · 02/08/2023 21:16

We love the Tesco ones. Never rip apart for us.

Asda still have a bit of a weird smell.

I personally found water wipes too wet

Morning189t2 · 02/08/2023 21:28

We love the morrisons yellow ones. The only annoying thing is that they stopped doing the clixky lid and it's now just an annoying sticky back lid.

midnightreign · 02/08/2023 21:32

Fred and flo from Tesco are the worst! So thin and I find that about 10 come out at once!
I really like rascal and friends wipes from Tesco. They're thicker but not too wet and they're soft. They're not the cheapest but not as expensive as water wipes.

Gmama23 · 02/08/2023 21:33

We have Kit & Kin nappies on subscription so occasionally add on their wipes if I'm feeling fancy as they're great but quite pricey.

Generally though we get the bulk box of Mama bear ultra sensitive wipes off Amazon and really rate them.

PorridgeFace · 02/08/2023 21:35

Another vote for mama bear from Amazon

SkinnyMalinkyLankyLegs · 02/08/2023 21:35

I've tired so many, hoping to find ones that don't rip apart as you take them out the packet or that are that thin that you need about 3 wipes per bum wipe! The best I've found are rascal and friends from tesco and pampers sensitive.

LeopardCat · 02/08/2023 21:36

Waterwipes are the most natural ones I could find

Cyclewidow46 · 02/08/2023 21:47

We tried the usual Pampers, Huggies and Waterwipes with my grandson and he reacted to them all.
We found the best to be Tesco Fred &Flo Extra Sensitive - they don't fall apart, you usually only need a couple and they are very reasonably priced.
