Side opening cot recommendations

Hello, I am looking to buy a cot for a newborn but would ideally like to buy one that opens to the side (like a door opening) due to my partner being disabled and not being able to reach over the top of the cot and lift the baby out. We’re hoping the side opening will mean we can open the side of the cot and reach in to get to our baby without having to bend over (for example if we’re sat on the floor so would be at similar height).

Does anyone know of these type of cots and have any recommendations please?

I don’t know if this may be something that might be used by wheelchair users / parents who have to sit to lift their child out?

We’re not looking for a cot that attaches to our bed but one that the child can be in on its own.

thanks for any recommendations in advance!

Would you not be better looking for a drop side cot? A quick google search shows me there's a few options for those, but I haven't found a side door-style opening one.

We have a snuz pod which might fit your requirements? Have a google. The side is entirely open and you fit it to the height of your bed. So essentially their mattress is an extension of yours. Means when baby stirs or needs comfort you can easily put your arm out whilst staying in bed yourself

I had the Tutti Bambini side sleeper which was great. They do a bigger sized one as well that lasts for some of the toddler years too.

The Snuzpod us marketed as a cosleeper, but you can also use it with the side up away from the bed. Although it will only last six months or so.

Thanks all for your suggestions which I’ll look up. I need something that will allow access to the child until they’re a toddler, not just a newborn, so a bedside sleeper until 6 months isn’t ideal but maybe one of the ones that cater for older ages too could work.

Drop down cots are really hard to come by. They were banned in the US as some designs were very clearly associated with child injuries and deaths. I don't think they were ever formally banned here.

We have a Chicco Side-Sleeping Cot Next2Me Forever. It is like a bigger version (120 x 60) of the next to me cots. The mesh side pulls down, it has good wheels and the height of the whole thing (as opposed to just the mattress) is adjustable. You can also remove the legs completely and use it as a floor bed.

They don’t sell them anymore as they don’t meet safety guidelines/ regulations. You may find some on wayfair but seeing as wayfair is any shop selling furniture, it will be hard to know who is a legitimate furniture seller and who is selling a dodgy made cot.
