Party Bag Price

What is a reasonable amount to spend on party bags, including the bag, for my daughters 6th birthday party?

Party is half boys, half girls, about 16 children in total.

Also if you have any good websites for sourcing party bag stuff that would be great! Thank you in advance!

Totally depends on budget.
Anything between 50p and £5?
I guess I’ve usually spent around the £3/4 mark? But I have smaller parties generally with no more than about 8/10 kids.

Honestly I would just do sweet cones - buy some piping bags, fill bottom with smaller sweets (millions or skittles), then something bigger like flying saucers followed by jelly sweets then three of the big marshmallows. Tie off and add a bit of ribbon.

You can just buy the big family bag sizes of sweets.

Otherwise the 10 books for a tenner at the works plus a small bag of haribo etc is a decent option

Speaking as someone going to a lot of 4th birthdays at the moment…. Spend what you like, just for the love of god don’t put whistles in them.

Don't send them home with plastic bags of plastic crap. It's so unnecessary.

Piece of cake and a book if you absolutely must send something home. Some sweets if you really want.

Virginsexonthebeachplease · 30/07/2023 15:58

I spend £3-4 I think (I'd have to work it out and I haven't) but I try to get quality items and look for deals or buy on Vinted (new) to save money.

Virginsexonthebeachplease · 30/07/2023 15:59

I would rather my child came home with a party bag with a few items in or a book rather than loads of tat but I do think children enjoy party bags.

RosaSkye · 30/07/2023 16:10

I wouldn’t spend more than about £2.50 a bag total, if that. Alternative ideas which can work out cheaper -

Large Bubble wands which you can usually get for 50p or £1 each in rainbow colours- hang a parcel tag on each with a ‘thank you for coming’ message

Lucky Dip- wrap 50p items like pencils and rubbers and have them in lucky dip box to choose one as they leave

The Range is good for cheap party bags fillers

Avatartar · 30/07/2023 16:17

See B&M animal tumbler with built in straw £1. Get those, put piece of cake in and a few moams- reuseable and edible gift - for under £1.50 each- sorted

LoveBluey · 30/07/2023 16:18

I aim for £2 a bag but we've only done whole class parties so needed to get 35 party bags. I just did paper bags with some sweets, stickers, a balloon and some cake.

Positive41 · 31/07/2023 22:50

Agree to no cheap plastic, it just goes in the bin. No seeds/bubbles/slime/loud things!

Kids love sweets/chocolate and that will be the first thing they will search for.

Maybe for girls, a little bracelet that they can keep.

For boys, a small car.

Or a book for either sex- with a sweet bag

I did different party bags for each sex.

Virginsexonthebeachplease · 01/08/2023 09:25

@Positive41 I prefer to give the same to all children I think. Not everything has to be gendered (not that I am massively new age about it) and I'd rather everyone got the same or simile things.

You’ll never keep all parents happy. Some like the plastic tat, loads don’t like mini craft, some hate the sweetie cones and I’ve seen parents on here complain about books. Just do whatever works for you. Try not to overthink it.

caffelattetogo · 01/08/2023 12:39

What's wrong with seeds?

I agree!

fartfacenotfatface · 01/08/2023 12:58

Surely it depends on your budget? I usually just do homemade sweet cones (as in I make up the cones myself, not that I make the sweets!).
A pack of plastic icing bags costs around 5p per bag, then head to the pound shop or supermarket and buy a mix of big bags of sweets - Haribo, Smarties, strawberry laces, jelly beans etc.
Cost per bag is under £1.

shelbaby · 01/08/2023 19:11

Here's my bit. Most of the things end up in the bin. Half the time my kids don't even play with them they'll eat the sweets and discard the rest.

I have previously done sweet cones for my daughters 5th birthday (with birthday cake too) and I remember one of the kids saying are there no party bags (surprised sad face 😂). The following year we had them as it came as part of the package at the softplay but I always dislike them!

I think £1-£2 is plenty or cheaper if u can manage to make them cheaper than that!

Temu or SHEIN have lots of cheap party supplies if u don't mind using those companies.

MotherOfCrocodiles · 01/08/2023 19:17

Oh good no seeds! Wildflowers are WEEDS that DC want to plant in my flowerbeds. Anything that is not a wildflower will need watering and I don't need more mental load.

TinyTeacher · 01/08/2023 20:16

Go for consumables. Some sweets, a slice of cake, a sticker sheet to match the theme.
