Cheaper alternative to dry nights

Hi all. 5yo DS not dry at night. Elder sibling wasn’t until 7yo.
Now using DryNights as used to use washable, but he was out-weeing them.
Is there a cheaper version? Own brand?

Washable Bed Protector/Pad with Tucks - Pack of 2 https://amzn.eu/d/80bhoIr I used to get these n what I can tell you is they wash well & can go in dryer on low. My son didn't really need them much bt they do work, I have 2 & that's all I needed, 5 years later I still have them n they're in perfect condition bt like I say my son didn't need them much. Xx

Also does he go toilet right before bed? Limited drinks around n hour or so before bed? Xx

I'm not up with the alternative to dry nights in the last few years but one of my daughters wet the bed in late teen years and Drynights or similar were too expensive and leaking almost every night. We switched to "regular" diapers, the classic ones with tabs, and we solved all our problems, no leaks for two-thirds less money! Not fancy or trendy at all but it’s totally worth it.
Drynites are discreet, yes, but to me mostly a gimmick than a real need.

Thanks. We already have the washable pads, they’re great, but if we only used those we’d need to wash every day (plus duvet/pajamas/sheets).

We do all the usual drinks advice, wee before bed, etc
It’s partly genetic, his dad wasn’t dry at night well into his teens…

just large nappies then? We’re not fussed about discrete for day to day, needs to be effective and preferably cheap!

Yes, same at Aldi, the size 7 nappy pants tend to do the job. They have started doing night pants too now, but they are more expensive.

I also find the Tesco nappy pants the best product out there, I think we have tried them all.

ladygindiva · 30/07/2023 17:33

They also come in size 8

Apologies, jumping onto this thread, we're in a similar position with my 8yo DD. It costs 20+ a month so would prefer any cheaper. She's smaller than average so still wears the 4-7 ones, would the recommendations above be too babyish?

I've used for years just the Tesco nappies but they were the Tesco Junior Nappies, not pants, like the ones I've written in my previous post. Maybe we are talking about the same thing. Anyway, they are good nappies for half the price of Drynites and they absorb double.

IamChipmunk · 30/07/2023 19:23

We used the Aldi night pants. DD would have been upset to wear a nappy as she didn't like not being dry (although clearly nothing she could do about it until her hormones caught up).
They are cheaper than dry-nights

The Tesco nappy pants are in a red and white packaging and go up to size 8, work just like pullups .

After a lot of research we stopped buying drynites and ordered a case of some cheap plain nappy/slips from incoshop with the highest water absorption, also let her make her own sheets every day. At first she wouldn’t wear them but after some important communication, the bed sheet cleaning stopped and I noticed she’d started using them. Never a leak in 2 months and she soon stopped wetting so just 1 case fixed everything!! Maybe our kids just get lazy and have no motivation to stop unless there is a serious change that they are not so comfortable with? She said she started doing some pelvic exercises before bed so that probably helped too, obviously she wanted to stop wetting so badly that she did her own research.
The nappies we purchased were DryLife super in Medium. I think we might have ordered the wrong ones because when I inspected them they were plastic but they do have cotton like versions, they wouldn’t swap the other two packets because they were out of stock but she did get used them. They are a LOT thicker than a Drynite and slightly bigger, maybe 5 cm bigger, so I guess that is why they actually worked.
She is a different person now. Not so shy these days and definitely growing up incredibly fast now. Get your kids out of bedwetting ASAP, seriously, I truly believe it is holding them back in life and maturity.
Don’t waste money on Drynites, it’s a complete conspiracy, we just buy these things for years because it’s a difficult situation and we need a plaster instead of looking for a real solution.
