Mam Vs Dr browns bottles?

Hi everyone baby was born at 36 +3 I'm using Dr brown bottle with the size 1 teat but she seems to be struggling with the teat, I think it's the shape , I am keen to use a good anti colic bottle as my fourth child had horrendous colic and nothing helped , anyway would you say the mam bottles are good for preventing colic as I'm trying to find a good anti colic bottle, I used mam on my fourth child and it didn't really do anything so I'm unsure if it was just him or the bottles .

Dr browns were difficult due to not being able to shake them when mixing formula (found this out the hard way) and lots of parts. Also they’re worst things ever to carry in your nappy bag too as they leak everywhere. Never had any issues with the MAM ones and the best bit is the bottom comes apart totally which makes them so easy to clean!
I found that changing my dd from cow and gate stage one milk to cow and gate comfort milk also made a whole lot of difference.

I'm finding she dribbles a lot of milk with Dr browns and I'm not sure what nuk are like but everyone seems to be using mam but they didn't do much with my 2 year old but then that could have been him as nothing really helped his colic , I'm just keen to start early on the right bottle.

Tried both those bottles when my son was a baby & found them to be useless, we used Tommy teepee bottles with a varie flow teat worked a treat for us, hope this helps xx

I think we used the regular bottles with a varie flow teat, I remember I had a right battle finding the right bottles for him bt these worked for us, I found the varie flow teats really made a big difference xx

Tommee tippee but don't get the ones with anti colic valve, they are useless. The number 1 or vari flow teats have the anti colic vent on them and they are brilliant. Hope that helps

I've recently started using Nuk anti colic and think they're really good

Devilsmommy · 30/07/2023 13:12

Vari flow are better than number 1 as it goes to the baby's suck instead of standard flow. Definitely get vari flow if you can. Never realised til got pregnant how many different bottles there were😆

APurpleSquirrel · 30/07/2023 13:17

Tommy Tippee did nothing for DD when she had colic; but the MAM bottles elwere much easier to clean, travel with etc.

I've been looking at nuk bottles but I've read in reviewa the medium 0-6 months teats are sometimes to fast ?so I've looked for the small sized 0-6 but finding it hard to see any .

I know it's a minefield now compared to when I had my first 14 years ago 😂

I found mam did nothing for my toddler but that could have been him ? Out of all my kids he had the wursy colic it didn't really go away until he was 6 months .

I used MAM bottles with my first, she LOVED them, helped with wind and reflux as she also had to use carobel so went a size bigger in the teats.
I saved them all in hopes my recent baby girl would use them to save money, but she hated them! She couldn’t latch on them properly even after tongue tie fix.
she’d cough and splutter so much and click on and off the teat.
caused her silent reflux to worsen and the wind was outrageous.
I bought Dr browns anti colic bottles, the narrow teat ones, let’s just say it has been a game changer after only a couple of days! She latches brilliantly on them, she brings up some burps easier and when they do come up they aren’t sicky like they were with MAM. All the air she took back with the mam ones must’ve caused more reflux. (even though she is on infant gaviscon)
i honestly believe every baby has their own teat preference. 😅
