Milk and solids aversion due to serious acid reflux?

Hi mums,

I am getting mad so please help me if you had any similar experience!! My DS is 6.5 months and he has really really bad reflux. He is on medication the past few months and he is drinking Alfamino (Hypoallergenic) formula. We had some challenges with him getting weight on and off and lately he doesn't want to even see the bottle. He starts screaming. He is on an average x3 (210ml) bottles a day and in a very good day we make it to 4 bottles. We thought by introducing solids will be a game changer but oh no... It's the same if not worse! The moment he sees food, he reacts immediately. The only thing he wants in his mouth are his hands and all of his toys. He doesn't yet sit up either. What should I do? He has such a bad aversion. And the dietician and gp haven't really helped me so far. Is it just reflux or can it be something else? How can we help him?

Give it time. He will eat eventually. Have you tried carobel to thicken the milk? It could help

Keep offering with no pressure.

@karpouzi

Hi, how did you get on in the end

My boy is the same and I'm terrified, he only takes approx 500ml all day and a couple of BFs

Any tips you can offer? X

How old is your LO @Hazzyyy?

@CadyEastman
He is 6months. Failing to thrive, under Paediatrian who started us on Puramino 2 weeks ago. He was born 9th centile and dropped to 0.4

Advised to start weaning but he clamps his mouth shut. I assume it's a feeding aversion as he hates bottle too. I'm dairy and soya free but only been 2 weeks yet

Are you aware that puramino contains soya or at least it did when we were formula feeding my daughter.

My daughter had feeding aversions and they were due to allergies and reflux we needed to tackle both. She has a lot of food allergies that I needed to remove from my diet. She has a coconut allergy which meant we could only have alfamino one of the other amino acid based formula. She needs heavy duty reflux treatment which was high dose omperazole, gaviscon and domperidone as well as identifying allergens 20 of her allergies. Even so she didn't engage with weaning until 13 months and at 10 months when we switched from breastfeeding to formula she was still on just a few mouthfuls of foods a day and that was a good day!

Is your DS gaining weight/remaining in the same percentile? Have you checked if he is lactose intolerant?

Our GP/dietician suspected that our son is lactose intolerant and due to his slow weight gain, they prescribed us Infatrini Peptisorb which is hypoallergenic high caloric formula. (Very difficult to prescribe because it’s super expensive) It did help a lot! Once he got used to this formula he was so much more settled. And he gradually started eating solids too. The paediatrician told us to take it easy and not force him to eat due to the trouble he had with milk. He just turned 1 and he is doing so so well! I cannot believe it. He is eating a lot of solids and loves them! And we just started introducing lactose to him very very very slowly.
